Like most people on here, I'm getting a little depressed and annoyed with the snow, so I thought to cheer some of us up, I would start a thread about things that are GOOD about snow.
1. The ground is hard so the horses aren't chewing up the field
2. I'm getting really fit! I'm pushing almost my own body weight up a snow-covered hill twice a day - this bodes well for the waistline methinks ;)
3. No mud!
4. The trees look really pretty.

Can you tell I'm getting desperate? :D

So are there any other things that you like about the snow? I know several of the above can also be seen negatively but try to stay positive :)

Mines more to do with the coldness....

frozen poo!! :D how easy is it mucking out little pebbles of poop in the mornings, less mess and less time spent mucking out.

1. I can be really lazy and turn out my own horses in their stable rugs for a few hours and not have to spend hours and hours changing rugs etc

2. The inside of their hooves are so nice and clean after you have picked out the snow

3. No horrible wet sticky mud on my greys

4. My fields aren't being churned up

5. Fantastic to see the whole herd have a 'washing machine' spin moment round the field at 90mph

6. Makes me laugh to see the foals investigate this new stuff

7. I have found out where the stop cocks (good point) for the water are after the pipes burst !

8. Mucking out is easier as the poos are frozen

9. No plaiting up for hunting as they are all on foot

10. The beautiful still peace and quiet that has ensued the yard

My horses white sock has never been more sparkling white - plus he's lying down in the stable at night at the mo (I guess cos it's so cold) so his bed isn't too messy in the morning....

Agree with you but we pay for it later when the beds (and poo) thaw out so they feel damper and the bricks start sweating it out too so everywhere feels damp and clammy.

I like it, it's pretty while it's still white then you can keep it once it turns to slush. :)

knowing my ancient landrover is the only thing that will get down the farm in one peice and knowing I can help anyone out if needed with trusty greenie!!

My rugs are all clean

Their hooves are clean

My ponies feathers arent cacked in mud

My wellies are super clean and can walk with them on through the house without getting mud everywhere

Its so cold so my guinea pig was allowed inside this year, and hes now staying put.

The dogs get a ball to play with as and when they want to and you dont have to carry it on a walk

Perfect lazy excuse to give horses full access to the bale of hay (round) rather than carting it up the field in a wheel barrow every evening

I "cant" poo pick in the snow coz its too hard to find :D

It seems so peaceful and quiet, and when I walk down to the farm I can do so in the middle of the road knowing no traffic is coming to run me over!

And as above too.

We have no snow, just the heaviest frost I've ever seen, but it does make everything look very pretty and fairytale-like. Having no mud is good, and it's very theraputic (sp?) attacking the ice on the water troughs with a pitchfork!

Really, really sorry - just cannot think of one thing because I'M SOOOOOO SICK OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!! And I can't ride, just treacherous - so my horses are going absolutely stir crazy.

There are good things about the snow?! :O

Ok, so you can make pretty good snowmen, and snow angels, and the wellies manage to stay miraculously clean wherever you go.

I'm struggling to find anything else!

the most lovely snowy walk with my fella and having snowball fight - mmmmmm was so nice to laugh at throwing snowballs with out thinking this is going to hurt :)

My back garden looks as good as everyone elses.

My chestnut horses with white legs look amaaaazing in the snow.

It's a heck of a lot better than mud!
