Positive thinking: Good things about snow!

You stole my idea for a thread! :eek: :mad: ;)

1. There is no mud = no need to worry about mud fever and horses and rugs stay cleaner
2. My horses are getting plenty of turnout as at our yard they are only allowed out in the winter when there has been a frost or if it has snowed... which has been just about everyday so far this winter! :)
3. No need to sweep the yard, otherwise you just make it more slippy
4. It looks pretty

well its better than sideways rain and bog! and yes everything is relatively clean til it thaws! then we get the thaw, then the flood and deep bog! what you gain on the roundabouts you loose on the swings!
 
I can use the car as an extension to the fidge and freezer so no probs storing all that christmas food

Perfect excuse if feeling anti-social/invited to v v dull 'christmas party'...'Oh I wish I could come but so worried about getting back...'

My white horse is, well, white

It doesn't matter that I've lost my torch as its so light outside at night

My hunting mad tabby cat is curled up next to me instead of catching small (and large) rodents to give me as a gift


Ok, I'm done, truthfully I loathe this weather! :D

The snow cleans up white socks lovely

No mud!

The snow makes it seem so much brighter - more light seems to make me happier

Log fire!!!

Boiling the kettle on top of the log fire

Everything just looks so clean!

People don't condemn me for having a landrover any more - they like the fact that I can pull them when they get stuck

I can ski in my fields - no long trips to have a bit of a slide on planks of wood

I'll see if I can think of any more...
 
Glad you done this post, as today i was starting to apreciate the snow, how darn sad is that.
No Mud
Easy to get hay out to the fields
Turn out the stabled horses in their stable rugs
Not wet, and easy to build up an good sweat working so layers off and muscles building up.
Cant poo pick as cant find the darn stuff
It looks pretty
Everyone is driving slower and actually smiling and waving
 
Snow means no horses to ride, which means after morning stables there is about 5hours to kill until afternoon stabes,

empty snowy fields, plus 2x quad bikes each complete wit lunge line and snow board, grooms in two teams alot of racing!!

The horses have also never looked so good, all the full liveries are pulled clipped and trimmed and every building is sparkling from having a clean.

Major negative is the horsewalker died and Monarch have still to send someone outto inspect so horses are being handwalked- but that has to benefit the waistline?
 
I'm still a big kid at heart...I secretly get stupidly excited when snow is forecast!!
- Snow ball fights!
- Sledging
- Snowmen building
- Snow Angels
- Everything looks so pretty in white :)
- No work!

Down side is I can't ride or turnout, but the horses are quite happy munching on their hay and haylage!! And my fatty has even lost a bit of weight, and my others are maintaining their weight excellently!! Ideal :D

errr you can sculpture horsey type snowmen, although I'm a bit suprised as not many people seem to have done this or at least posted pics....including myself:o
