Well...

Firstly, thank you all for your comments on my terrible pity-post I did a few days ago, I was feeling quite down :( But all of you guys made me feel a lot better! :D

So, I've spoken to the YM, and Advanced Pony Week is all go! I'll be doing everything but the XC and the SJ course.

I was REALLY upset that I couldnt do the XC (still am!), but I'm going to be a fence judge for that bit :)

Other than that, we basically have sole charge of our horses for the week. They'll be mucked out in the mornings, but other than that we feed, decided whether they're t/o that day or kept in, we get them from the field, come early to plait up, leave late..... I'm SO excited!! And of course, I'm riding Bonnie Coblet :D:D:D

I'll also be doing my first ever dressage test! I am soo nervous, but looking forward to it as well :) Any tips on learning tests (I think it'll only be w/t).

Also... What do I wear for the dressage/SJ? I'm going to catlips when I get back from Ireland, to stock up so to speak! I've also decided that red and navy are going to be my 'colours' :D

Sorry for the self-indulgent post, but I'm so excited!!! Thank you guys for all your help, and I will keep you all updated :D

TG xx

Ohhhh sounds likes brilliant fun!!

For dressage and SJ I either wear a shirt, PC tie and a show jacket, or a polo shirt and a plain navy jumper, both with white or cream johds to be smart! :p Don't forget to take plenty of pics!! :) xx

Oh and as for learning dressage tests, I'm an expert :p

You can draw out all the markers on a piece of paper and then trace round it as if going round the school, and the pen is your horse.. if that makes any sense at all?! :p

Ooooor, you can run around the park or your garden pretending it's the arena.. though you will look like a loon ;) or you can write it out like 101 times, but pretty much the best thing to do is read it whenever you have the opportunity and make little annotations and diagrams if you need to remember a particular part. I always used to read it last thing at night and first thing in the morning, when I was going out in the car.. pretty much any time I had a couple if mins to spare! But also, if you can, ride the course on the horse you're going to do it on, always a useful thing. Have fun!! xx

Gotta go find a red and navy tie now! I have decided they're gonna be mine and Bonnie's 'colours'. Do you think its a good choice?

I'm def going to try it out in my living room/park just to confuse other people :D

Will probably end up reading it 1000 times too! Thanks for the tips xx

I'm currently learning dressage tests, I have two do :O Nervous much!

I love navy & red, it would go lovely with Bonnie's colour as well :D

Nope, navy and red deffo. Maybe purple and black, but not a fan of blue and pink.. I think navy and red or purple and black would go with more, and looks classy :p xx

Navy and red it is!

P.S. Elphie, good luck!

Not that up on clothing attire so not be much help, only just bought my show stuff a few weeks back myself, but wishing you a great time, sounds like a lot of fun ;):)

I'm really pleased for you TG! You'll have a fantastic time and I bet your turnout is one of the best, so you'll more than make up for playing it safe this time about xc. I hope we'll be getting evening-ly updates if you're not too knackered!

How's the back?

Aw, thanks AB! I am working on my plaiting and tie-tying, so hopefully I'll get Best Turn Out! :D

You guys are SO gonna get semi-obsessive updates daily :p

Back is still hurting a bit, will take a painkiller and see how I go in the lesson. If it gets too much, I've promised myself I'll get off :(

Just try and relax throughout the ride, I once came off a day before a uni competition and boy did my ribs hurt when I was warming up my dressage mount (completely strange horse, it's how e comps work, lending you horses you've never ridden) and I had that sharp intakeofbreath type pain like you described, but once I relaxed and got into what I was doing I forgot all about it...until later on that night lol! Your body will tell you if you can do it or not, but sometimes you have to tell your body to man up when it comes to horses! :D

I am always quite tense when I ride, I HAVE to relax today!!

Aargh, the competition sounds scary! I'm way too much of a wuss to do that :o

The comps were scary! You just had to get on ANYTHING and give a dressage test a go, then out wheel more horses for you to showjump....did a fair few rounds that did not look pretty! I learnt a lot though, best lesson was how to ignore the little voice inside saying 'no, don't do it Rach, you'll probably die'!lol

For me, I think that little voice is well and truly ignored! Going bareback today, on Dawi the welsh D, was definitely a time I should've listened to that voice though :D

wow sounds like great fun shame you cant do xc and sj cant they put the sj jumps down? i wsh my riding school did that when i was there
have fun :D
