just wondering really (call it boredom, i'm off work

) are you a 'possessive type of horse owner or not? i'm really quite particular about who does my horses, and how they are done. i went on full livery for a time (had to- job related) and hated EVERY minute of it (didn't help that the person doing the job was rather...er....slapdash i think is the way to describe it

) but even now i find it hard to let other people do my horses- its at the point where i have to get up at 5am to do my horses before work but for £3 i could get someone to feed, change rugs and turnout for me....i also have to clip my youngster today for the first time, it would be sooooo much easier to pay someone else, but i get all possessive about stuff like this... i'd rather do them myself- this isn't healthy surely!?

Yes I am very possessive, and the fact I have to have a sharer is quite hard for me. I like to be the one who moves her when she changes fields etc.

oh my horses don't give a toss! they actually prefer it when YM brings them in from the field because she takes biscuits down with her to feed them! i go and grab them and then ride them so i think they dislike me!!

I am the same, don't know why i'm like it, weird. I'm lucky we have a really good groom so never have a problem. We had a groom before who would bring her in at night and not bother to pick her feet out, would really annoy me!

I am a bit, I'm fine with YO and my other 2 close friends who help out on the yard, but i don't like other people fussing her without asking, theres a lady who is a friend of my YO who come to help now and then, she always wants to bring Milly in from the field and i hate it!!!!!!

I am the same, although my lad is very big and quite spirited so there aren’t that many people i would trust to handle him, however I think that is just a good excuse because i wouldn’t want just anyone dealing with him.

I am a control freak any way like everything done a certain way. My friend does everything the same as i do so we find it easy to do each others horses.

im very possessive and find it hard just to let someone bring my horses in. I to get up a 5am to do my horses but i enjoy having the relationship with them

Total control freak and aware of it!! I have to have a groom (I work full time and I just can't cope otherwise) and it's a struggle to remain calm and accept that other people have perfectly good ways of doing things!

I'm possessive, My mum owns a small livery yard and go down b4 work 2 muck out our horses and she turnout but I have 2 ring and decide which rug etc....
There having there vaccs 2day and 1st time i'm not there but mum will do my horse and the vet is my boss but still just rang mum for dos and dont with him. But agree with diggerbez, he like my mum more as she doesnt ride him

Nope - as long as I'm happy that the person is competent to handle my horse I don't have an issue. And as for the mucking out etc, I'd be happy to let anyone do it - sadly everyone at the yard knows how dirty my horse is so I rarely get any offers!

I have a groom care for them in the mornings (purely I time thing, I have to be ready for school at 8 and my parents also leave for work then!) and hack them out, but I entirely trust her and I am happy to leave them in her care for the weekend.

But then I am quite possessive about who rides them, I am quite funny at PC about swapping horses and no one can understand why but they are my horses I put a lot of work into and I'd just rather not see someone else on them, not riding them how I would like to be quite honest. People have fallen out with me over this but at the end of the day they're my horses, I let friends ride them quite happily but not people who I don't like the way they treat their own horses.

I'm exactly the same. I get up at 5am to save myself £2.50, because I like my horse to have hay before she goes out, and YO won't do this. My OH is doing 1/2 days this week, so he could bring in and feed for me in the afternoons. But I won't let him - I have to put my horse to bed myself.

Sad really, but nice to know I'm not alone!

I am quite anal about how I like my horse done and my current YO is the only person I would trust to look after him properly! Even though she did him on part livery last winter (he's on assisted DIY this winter) and knows how I like things done, on the days she does him for me now, I still feel the need to write her an exhaustive list of what to do and when! She's quite patient though and does indulge me

I'm the opposite to most liveries I think though...my lists usually consist of "only ONE rug, unless it's so cold the water freezes over, max turn out, even in rain, snow, hail, fog, no adlib haylage as he's a fattie" and so on.

I am very fussy about my horse.

However, due to my disability he is now on full livery and the care is 5*. I trust our YM explicitly with his care and leave everything to her.

well i'm glad i'm not alone in my anal retentiveness

whilst i can just about deal with other people doing jobs for me i absolutely hate other people riding my horses. my TB i'm not too fussed about- i don't compete him anymore so i'm not bothered how he's going and he's been on loan so i'm used to others riding him. but my youngster i'm really possessive about. bugs me when people keep dropping hints about getting on him- i don't see how that will help in any way so i try to just ignore them

Yep big time, haven't had a holiday since 1994,when I went to see relatives in America, left OH in charge who did everthing to the letter. The fact the weather had turned cold and didn't give extra hay, so came back to thin horses, chewed rails and OH thinking he'd done a brilliant job. And cann't understand why I no longer want to go on holidays, but there again why waste the money when you can spend it on more hay, feed, rugs Bliss!!
