Possible kissing spine... why??

Good news :) I did think it was a huge jump from sore back to “it mist be kissing spines”.!

I’d be looking at the saddle fit as a matter of urgency. It sounds quite likely to be something as easily fixed as that. You may also need another bodywork treatment, even if it is that and you sort it.

Saddle fitter is booked, just very busy and couldn’t come out that quickly

I'd be thinking of changing your vet. You said he was sure it was kissing spines and now he's got you giving bute to a horse with suspected ulcers. Bute is bad news for ulcers and in horses suspected of having them it is often given with anti-ulcer medication as a precaution. In your case that would just confuse everything.

If you don't find out by scoping first, you aren't going to know, if she later is shown to have ulcers, whether it was ulcers all along or whether bute caused the ulcers or made slight ones worse.

Good news that it's not kissing spines :)

Totally agree with this, I'd be looking for a different vet myself

Getting her scoped next week. Rode today and she was a tad more forward (but she’s had a week off). She’s fine when going forward of her own accord and stretches forward but as soon as you need to put your leg on for whatever reason the head goes up and the ears go back and the handbrake goes on and she swishes her tail.

She’s also mildly irritated having her sides brushed. Skin is flakey and the big one, she’s lost weight in the 2.5 weeks this has been going on. I could easily pull her girth up another hole today and there was room to spare still, could probably have gone up again

Good idea to get checked for ulcers.

What you are getting here is a pain response, it unfortunately could be anything, my horse had suspected ulcers, then KS but neither were the case and it ended up being something else. Keep an open mind, keep logical in your approach and you will get there
