I was up at Okehampton Camp tonight and I spotted a greyhound cross. It was staring at each car that passed. I stopped and got out. It came over but legged it when It realised I wasn't who it was looking for. But it was clearly distressed and desperate to find someone in a car. It is possibly greyhound staffy X. about 26 inches to the shoulder. Smooth coat, black with a white bib. it wasn't wearing a collar. I didn't get to check the sex and I did try and catch it but as I wasn't able to get close. No one lives up there who owns one, there was no one walking and the weather was foul. So I suspect he has been dumped. I have posted on Dogs lost website but any other suggestions.

its sort of the right half of the country - as in south of Watford :-)and course it was worth it. i am going to go up again tomorrow with some treats and see if i can spot it. Worrying as loads of lambs and foals on the moors and lots of farmers who have lost lambs to dogs .

Meh, hope you find him and he doesn't get it in the neck from a farmer!

I relocated one of the most famous GSD kennels in the UK by about three counties a few weeks ago. Revenge for all those people who have ever asked if I know 'John, from Dublin'? :p
I have actually been to Okehampton. And Sticklepath :D

course you can, I went up there again today, treats and toys in hand along with my friendly lurchers and couldn't find it. I have phoned the dog warden and notified the national parks chap. I have been to the two petshops and checked there as well as tourist info but no missing dog it would appear. So maybe i was right - it has been dumped rather than lost
