Hello all,
This is my first post on here so bear with me!
This morning after riding i noticed a large sore on the inside of my horses bottom lip, about an inch below his bottom teeth.
It appeared to be bleeding slightly. I noticed yesterday that he was dribbling more than usual in the stable and when ridden. I was not able to ride him though out last week (he was however ridden by YO). I noticed yesterday when i rode him, he was a lot more spooky, defiant and on his toes than normal. He also did a rather large rear and even though he is highly strung, he would never normally push it that far. He is due to have his teeth done at the end of this month. Should this be looked at by a vet or dentist? I would normally err on the side of caution and have it seen unless it is a normal occurrence in other horses and i am making a fuss, i suppose I'm really trying to find out if any of you have experienced this.
Picture hopefully attached.
Thanks in advance and apologies for the essay!

It looks more like a wound. Has he been fighting or caught it on something. It hasn't gone right through has it. Mine managed to make a hole right through his bottom lip in a fight when he was young. Good news is that wounds in this area usually heal very quickly. Personally, I'd just keep and eye on it, but it's up to you whether you get it looked at.

It could well be, there is some young playful ones in his field and he tends to be a dominant chap! It hasn't gone right through from what I saw. Gosh, how awful for yours. Thank you very much for your response, it's greatly appreciated and very helpful. If anyone else has a thought please do share!

hi that looks pretty sore! i would syringe salt water into his mouth a couple of times a day -that will help it heal up quickly .x
