Ive heard there is a strong rumour that Rob Hoekstra is going to be the new chef d' equipe of the showjumping team. I would be interested to know what were the credentials on his CV that inspired the International commitee to consider his appointment to this position. All I can think of is he once won the Hickstead Derby and a well publised court case regarding a horse he sold that wasnt right. Surley this does not bode well for a team manager to gain respect from his riders.

It should have been the beginning of Feb, but again the rumour is Rob Hoekstra is tied up in a contract that he has got to get out of.

It will be very interesting to see the result. Rob is a fantastic horseman and (I think) make an excellent Chef d'equipe. Everyone has history and he paid dearly for his mistakes (if that is what they were) and there are two sides to every story whatever the court outcome! He understands horses and would take no prisoners if he were to take the role. I for one would welcome him - he certainley is not one of the old boys brigade! A shake up in the system is just what it needs and after all he would not be there to be everyones friend but to get results, something he is good at looking at some of his past pupils.

I would be VERY careful regarding the comments you make! He does not have a criminal record - therefore is not an ex con (as you so crudely put it). A small minded comment from a 'young' rider! Get a grip on life and wake up. No-one is saying they disliked Derek - he is a lovely guy but not the man for this job - there are too many strong minded characters in it who manipulate weaker beings. Rob Hoekstra is his own person - those who want to be 'in' will abide by his decisions those who don't will I am sure have the other choice!
