Possible sarcoid in horse's armpit

Had vet out to assess soundness in horse and he found a tiny lump (size of a fairly small human mole) in his armpit. He told me to make sure it didn't get any bigger and if it did to talk to him. What do you do in a situation like this? If it is a sarcoid is there any way to get rid of it now?
 
some varucass (prob spelt it wrong )sarciods can be treated with special cream or be frozen off or if its a fibrolisic sarcoid cut out by the vet and stitched my horse had a fibrolisic one a few yrs ago all depends on what your vet suggests and thinks x

There are a lot of treatments for sarcoids but no cure. Be very careful what you do with it as some sarcoids are more agressive than others and can get a lot worse if you start putting creams etc on them.
Personally I would just keep an eye on the lump - if it changes shape/gets bigger/starts to bleed etc or is irritating then get it looked at again by your vet.
I just lost my boy in Oct because of sacoids - had years of dealing wih them and tried everything.
Of course, may not even be one, horses and thier lumps and bumps!!
 
Our horse developed a small lump under his girth - which grew slightly and ended up as several small lumps under the skin. We were of course worried it was a sarcoid. Our vet looked at it, and said he didn't think it was, although he couldn't be sure - but recommended removal anyway due to its location which was eventually going to rub when ridden. He removed it under standing sedation in November - actually had to make quite an incision and stitch it. It has since healed beautifully (he had 2 weeks box rest to stop him rolling in the field, then turned out as usual, and we kept it covered at night with a roller with gamgee over, to protect it). We gave him nearly 2 months off before riding him again to make sure it was properly mended. They tested the lump that was removed, and said it wasn't a sarcoid, but probably a reaction to a fly bite, so the good thing is it is not going to recur. Fingers crossed for you it isn't a sarcoid - but not every lump has to be....
 
if it is in his armpit then the problem is that any cream you put on it will be smeared around the moment he moves, so i'd just keep an eye on it and only start doing something with it if it starts growing/spreading.
if it's in a non-smeary place i'd put Newmarket Bloodroot cream on it. one of my mares had about 3 small sarcoids come up at about 4 years old. (her mother had really suffered with sarcoids, so i was very vigilant.) i put bloodroot on them on vet's advice, they went completely and have not returned at all, 4 years on. it's brilliant stuff and not expensive.
 
A word of warning - bloodroot has made one sarcoid I know of double in size...The horse is now being treated with Liverpool cream (from Liverpool Vet Hosp at Liverpool Uni), cost £300+. Horse has 3 (?4) sarcoids, is young, grey, and we've been told they're likely to recur... so far none are in tack areas, or particularly 'smeary' areas, so let's hope all goes well.
My 22 year old had 2 frozen off her chest when she was 3, and has been absolutely fine ever since, as is a friend's horse who was treated homeopathically (with Thuja).
