I have been looking on a few web site that have listings for dogs for sale and sent 3 emails to 3 different ppl claiming to be in the East anglian area in regards to some puppies that have either to go to a free home or for sale. When they have replied to me they have all used the same story that they have recently moved to Scotland to work and they no longer have time to look after the puppies then they ask you some details what hours do you work do you have other pets ect sounds genuine that they want the best for the dog.

Then they tell you that you need to advise them your address ,name and post code beacuse they are going to couirer the puppy to you (but why would you commit to buying something you have never seen) they said they will arragange delivery once your address has been recieved and the Courier will contact you with a time and date for delivery and flight details so that you can make the payment to them for delivery.

To me this sounds dodgy espically as 3 differnent ppl have the same story and another emaild a fmaily member to with the same story but diffeent dogs and name.

Simple - they are puppy farmers

They have a big base somewhere out of the way with hundreds of poor bitches who they breed from year after year, and they then transport the puppies to anyone who is niaeve enough to buy one from them.

These kind of people make me sick and they should all be shot

- avoid them like the plague happy_go_lucky

If you want to buy a puppy go to an accredited breeder, or at the very least someone who can show you the bitch with the puppies in a home environment

Just read a similar story in the local paper yesterday, pedigree dogs advertised free to good home, owners based in Scotland and would send dog to new owners by courier.
Apparently the people wanting to take the dogs are then being asked to send the money for the courier to somewhere in Africa!

I wouldnt buy a dog from ppl like that anyway.Ideally we'd like to adopt a dog from a rescue centre and give them the money but all rescue dogs are big atm anf my auntie wants one of those small cat size dogs. where as am think german shepard hund hound ect.
I was going to send the emails to watch dog to stop ppl getting scammed some ppl are gullible enough to fall for it

As I said in your thread, there are hundreds of small dogs in rescue. Where have you looked, exactly?

And yes, this is a well known scam. www.dogpages.org.uk if you want to find a rescue dogs. Look in the forums.

My friend replied to an advert about a pup for sale, they had a email back saying the same as above, to send money first then they will send pup, so they called them to see iwhat was what, the man on the other end of the phone gave them the number for the courier which they called from a different phone, and it was the man who was selling the pup!!

What area are you in? Are you looking for an older dog or something younger? Does it have to be good with cats/dogs/kids/chickens etc?

Smaller dog, a toy group dog.
has to be good with cats other than that no other specs just would like to give a lonely or un wanted dog a loving home.
