I have a beautiful 20 yo mare who currently lives in Hampshire on loan. The loan agreement has come to and end so I am looking to move her nearer London where I live to make the most of her. Due to time constraints I am thinking about sharing her with another horsey person in the same position as me, loves horses etc but not enough time to go it alone. If any one is interested please let me know.

Also I am looking for a livery yard within reasonable distance from London and preferably near public transport (don't want to 100% rely on my car!) I have checked the forum and there is already some good suggestions but I thought I would add this in as always good to hear more suggestions. I am looking for part livery as will not be able to visit stables on weekday evenings, at a reasonable rate (no more than £70 p/w ideally)

Thanks!

you will be lucky to find something within that price range, in my experience. Decent livery yards in Surrey cost more and are in high demand!

there is a place called Highlands Farm just between leatherhead and headley, which does 5 day part livery at around your budget. It's one of the cheaper part livery prices around.

if you are looking to use public transport to get there, then there is a place called Paddock Lodge, which is about a 5/10 minute walk from Ashtead station that do DIY and Part livery. Not sure of costs, but it's not an OTT flash yard, so probably reasonable.

I think you would be lucky to get part livery for £70 a week!

Where abouts in London are you based as your journey time would make a difference depending on if you are north or south, there are quite a few yards in bexley. Could your mare perhaps live out as if you go on to grass livery then it would be cheaper or perhaps grass livery during the summer then part over the winter.

I think my yard does part livery but no-one seems to be on it so don't know how much it costs - I am on grass livery which includes a field check so don't need to go every day.

Forgot to say you will find it easier to get a sharer if the yard is accessible by public transport as lots of people in london don't have cars and you may find a student who has had to give up their horse due to uni might be interested in a share during the week - if it is not too expensive.

As above there are a few yards in Bexley, also quite a few in the Foots Cray/Swanley area, but thats a pain to get to on public transport (depends where you live of course though!). Also I believe there are a few yards in Keston.

Paddock lodge is closing - loads of liverys have been coming to our yard looking for spaces.

Our is £420 a month part and that's the cheapest you'll get in that area I'm afraid.

oh - hadn't realised it was closing. That's a shame.

As I said, Highlands was £350 for 5 day part when I enquired about 3 months ago - and that's got lovely hacking around epsom downs and headley heath. I liked the look of it, but don't know anyone who has actually liveried there.

Another option if you need to access a train station is Dorking Equestrian Centre, which is literally right next to Dorking West railway station. They do assisted DIY and part livery - not sure on prices though. Hacking is great over ranmore and onto polesden lacey etc.

Thanks for input! I am in South London so was thinking Surrey way would probably be best but would consider E/SE. Have just spoken to a yard in Surrey that sounds good so hopefully will be looking for a sharer very soon. If anyone knows of anybody who wants to share a horse please point them my way. I can send pics. 20YO dark bay mare, 15hh, nice temperament, chilled out but still has lots of life in her!

Thanks
