OK....this may seem so obvious/stupid but here I go-I'm getting used to asking silly questions

I've switched vogue onto shavings-previously on paper, and haven't had much to do with them before, as my last mare was on part livery away from home and I only had to do her bed at weekends-and never encountered this!

I put in 9 bales as the initial bed, and have been removing the poo's and any obvious wee's, with the plan to have a good rummage for wee's and top up the shavings every week (depending on how we get on) She's quite dry as she doesn't come in until very late at night and wee's as soon as she goes out in the morning...anyway-I ramble!

The problem is she rolls quite a lot and scatters her poo into millions of tiny pieces all in her bed. I spent God knows how long this morning trying to pick them up with gloved hand but there's there's so many bits you couldn't tell I'd even tried! I tried with the wire bowl I have thinking the dry shavings would shake through and the poo bits wouldn't but that didn't work either...any ideas?

It will get easier once the bed has been down a while new shavings sticks to poo. Once the shavings have been down a while and they have started to change colour if you throw the bed up the poo will role to the bottom then you can collect it.

I hate new shavings beds......

As BFG says - and also I use a shavings fork on my pellet/shavings bed. Once you get the knack you can sift the tiniest bits of poo out. You have my sympathy, FB is a box walking, poo trashing nightmare too.
