Quick history: Horse had slight swelling around fetlock. Not lame. Had a scan and nothing was found. Vet said carry on riding on bute for five days then take it steady for a while whilst gradually getting back to normal. This was all going well until the snow stopped play. Carried on putting horse out in mornings whilst there was snow. Rode on sat as school had thawed and he was lame.
Today:
Vet came out, trotted up, flexion test and was definately lame on that leg. Vet now thinks he may have a tear in his tendon sheath. He wants to scan again, then if nothing found wants to preform keyhole to have a look what the problem is. He also said there is no gaurantee at the end if he will come sound. There are so many, ifs and buts. Such as if it is just inflammation then he will be rested and could be back in work in 2 months. If its more serious, could be six months.
Has anybody had anything simular? (I'm sure there are lots of people as vet said very common op)
Thanks x
