one of my youngsters has sweetitch, sadly. I have been applying benzyl benzoate and Switch but today, because he started to rub his tail when brought in this morning I have decided that he needs to wear his bug-rug.
Will enough sunshine get through for his body to make enough Vit D or will he need a supplement?
Thanks in advance.

The theory is that even only partial exposure for 30 minutes a day is adequate.

Otherwise, horses kept stabled for 23.5 hours over the whole winter would be deficient.

Also vit d is syhtensised differently in horses I think? Anyway mine has a body rug with good on under Neath and t times trousers... And no vit d problems here - the sunlight makes her skin blister.

Skratch by global herbs worked brilliantly for us of the other stuff doesn't help :)

Thanks for the replies. Ned is out this afternoon minus rug getting some sunshine. Best way I think, rug will be back on later.
