How long ago was this, and did the mare have papers, how old would the mare be now? Sorry for the amount of questions but my friend bought a horse fitting that description and loaned her, never to be seen again, the horse was loaned as a companion and deemed unrideable, last we heard she went down London way.

Ok this would have been about 4 years ago I guess! Winter time. Im not entirely sure how old she was but i seem to remember her being 12 at the time or there abouts (sorry im not much help here) I don't think she had papers but again I could be wrong! She could be quite a fizzy mare and if fed molassed feed she had a tendency to hot up! She also stressed alot and would drop weight quite quickly! Benson would have been 15 at the time so i guess about 20 now!

Jnet do you have any pics of the mare you knew?

The age is right but I dont think the timelines match, yes I have pics, but from what you've said I dont think it can be the same mare, these pics are from six years ago when the horse was first diagnosed with a spavin, she was kicked in the field by my pony in the hock, and then again in the same place, my friend had her at least a year previous to that, she bought her from an irish dealer who I will not mention as I wouldn't even waste my breath on him.

Here's the pics anyway, sorry I dont think its the same horse.
