Went to view a nice horse today. Looked dark bay in the pictures and videos I was sent

Grey is a total deal breaker for me and I have been clear with that on my wanted ad

Sire of this horse is grey and dam is dark bay

The horse I viewed is 3 and has evenly spaced individual white hairs throughout his coat

Is there a chance he could grey out?

Photo isn’t clear as I zoomed in on a full body shot

Please no debate about why grey is a deal breaker and a good horse is never a bad colour etc.

Looks bay to me most grey out on the face first and it's quite noticeable and it would have started by now.

One of my Arab's is bay and he has alot of white hair through his coat and mane and tail.

What breed? Some are more prone to going grey…I’ve bought golden duns at 3 and they’ve turned grey 18 months later!

I'd say bay too.

My bay boy has had white hairs throughout his coat since I bought him, 14 years later and still very much bay!

I’d say not grey and definitely bay from the pictures.

Oh I thought it was usually face first, but Skylla has always been an oddity so why change that now, she definitely went face first 🤣🙈.

The face does go grey first, but you can tell they will be grey as the bottom part of the tail will be grey, and stay grey once they lose their light coloured foal tail. Its not 100% sure as some other things do that, but anything with a grey lower tail warrants a closer look to check.

What colour are mum and dad? If neither is grey then the young horse cant be grey either so an easy way to know.

Well you learn something every day! Her tail is indeed white at the bottom but even now at 12 years old it’s dark at the top!

Sorry for the thread de-rail OP.
