Considering replacing a section of older post and rail with some new stuff.

Has anyone priced this recently, ideally would have 4 rails to make it look substantial as it is a boundary fence.

Was the price supply only or actually built for you?

Thanks for any help.

Don't know whereabouts you are, but have a look at McVeigh Parker on the internet, their prices are really good.

Again, don't know whereabouts you are but we charge £5.60 per metre, vat and materials on top. The further south you go, the more expensive it seems but we are not top price in this area by any means but it's what we're comfortable at charging and we keep having new jobs by recommendations only so can't be too far out.

Sorry, couldn't seem to access here last night.

We're in the south Midlands, an area where things tend to be expensive! I've been told £7 a running metre but that's with us erecting it, pretty well double the figure for the company to do it, although they are local and good reputation.

Shall need a close exam. of the bank balance I reckon.

Thanks.

To be fair, that seems about right; good materials have shot through the roof recently and there's no point using inferior stuff, you'd just end up having to replace it in a few years time. They're a bit dearer than us on erecting it though. (I'm not looking for the job BTW!!)
I can't remember what or how much you wanted done or the shape of it; is there any chance you could just do the border of it for now and do the dividing into paddocks later when you've robbed another bank?!

As long as you tell them where you want dividing fences eventually, they could put in the strainers, gateposts and corner posts where they connect with the boundary during the first run which would save time and hassle later on, they'd literally only have to loop it in rather than cut it out - if that makes any sense at all!

Yes it does, the field is already sectioned off with stud fence etc. so no further work there, thankfully.

But the fence in question is our actual property boundary in this one field, it has been there a long time and still sound but I am getting to want to replace it before it needs it.

OH has given a cautious maybe to my plan, so things are moving in the right direction.

I will pay more for better quality, pays every time.

Just had mine done last month four rail it cost £9 metre done by the company. Gates are 12ft five bar wooded again fitted at £275 very good quality and solid construction live in yorkshire. x hope it helps
