Post Titles That Make Your Heart Sink....

Agree that I prefer titles that give some idea of content of post. I don't find the search facility very good at all - so hard to know what has been discussed before.

I love looking at other peoples photos - but find the very large ones irritating - partly because I (must be the only person in the world) am on dial up - and it takes ages to open these posts. Would be nice to see clickable images used more.

As in are horses eligible to take communion? Or does it have something to do with travel reservations?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I don't understand why people post threads with titles which tell us nothing about what is contained in the post.

I actually get irked by people whose post-titles say they need help and it is an emergency and then when you go to look it is only about some rubbish that isn't an emergency at all.

I cannot abide ANY post that has swearing in the title - absolutely no need for it in my opinion.

I rarely open a post where the title is written with loads of spelling mistakes.....as I just know what the content is going to be like

I don't mind about posts where people tell of different things they would do - gives you ideas as to whether this is an option for you or not and good ideas can be picked up from these sorts of posts.

I like to read posts on alternative or "taboo" types of training as I like to see whether I can guess whose side certain people will be on

If I see a title saying "My horse rears - what should I do" then I know that's likely to start a huge kerfuffle. One person will say hit it on the head, another will say use natural horsemanship, someone else will say shoot it and someone else will come back and say you should kill horses just because they don't do what you want them to! And then it all gets rather heated!

Personally I don't like titles that say things like "Help please" or "Can I have some advice". Often I open them and find they are on a subject that I know nothing about. I think people stand a better chance of getting good advice if they title their posts more descriptively. If I see a post entitled with a subject I know something about then I will open it before the others. Also if people are asking for help in a specific region - ie finding a farrier, instructor etc in a certain county, then by putting the county name in the title it will attract people from that area to look at the post.

Of course, these are just suggestions to help people use the forum more effectively, but people are free to ignore them as they wish!

The mud feaver ones get me the most I think. Because yes it's been done to death, plus the solution to the problem is always so simple (usually).

Still can't help replying though - as I am such a know it all......

Makes my heart sink for a different reason...

PTS posts.. only because I know somebody has lost or is about to lose a very much loved horse, reading the post will almost certainly make me cry, ignoring makes me feel guilty that I should be offering support. Then to offer support seems so insignificant at such an awful time!

The search is the same as it always was as long as you use the one in the individual forum, not the one on the main board.

'Which 4x4?', 'Good morning/afternoon/evening', 'I'm leaving', 'HELP URGENTLY NEEDED' (to choose colour of browband), or 'critique my...' - always ends up in an argument. The posts that really make my heart sink are usually in the vet forum, and are very sad ones.

Nope me neither. If I don’t like or not interested in the post title I just don’t read it. Easy.

The only thing that I don’t like is when an interesting post has 100’s of replies and I don’t have time to read them all! It’s not easy when you are clicking on and off just encase your manger is walking past, come on, you do it too!

P.S. Here have a virtual Caramel Slice!
