Posting a saddle

Having advertised a saddle locally with no takers, I'm planning to bite the bullet and put it on eBay, but a bit clueless about posting it!

Has anyone here posted a saddle? If so, which courier did you use, how did you package it and roughly how much did it cost?

I sold my Stubben jump saddle via eBay the other week. I sent it via ParcelForce; rang them up and they came to the house and picked it up the same day.
I put it in a large box with extra cardboard to protect the edges. I also bought a saddle via eBay and it came the same way.
I sent it on the 48 hour service and it was £15, but it weighed 7 kilos! Stubbens are heavy!
 
Large cardboard box (raid your local supermarket ;) ), line with bubble wrap, I've always cut into the box and shaped it round the saddle so it can't rattle. Never had any problems, and it's quite entertaining watching postmen struggle with a weird shaped box :D
 
I have used ipost parcels in the past and they have been fab. 24 hour delivery and you can book online. They will even bring you the labels if you dont have a printer and you can book a time slot so you don't have to wait in all day. I think they are between £10-£15?
 
I sent one to france that i sold on ebay. Same as pp, large box, loads of bubble wrap with extra around the cantle and fragile plastered all over it. It got to her fine.
 
Under £10 with these people http://www.clickandsendparcel.com/index.php unless it is exceptionally heavy or large. They collect from your house too, the only slight problem is there is nowhere for special instructions (leave with neighbour, collect from porch etc) but I emailed them immediately the rder was placed and it worked fine. I found them on ebay - look for UK couriers, they buy spare space on UPS and DHL, the big couriers.
 
I sent my western saddle to Scotland after selling it on eBay. I used city-link and it cost about £15. Very good service which I did entirely online.
