How do you package a saddle to post?
I have looked for a big cardboard box at Tesco's, but they don't have any. I then (really gross and smelly

) looked in the cardboard recycling skip thing (i got a lot of funny looks!

), and there were none in there! Can you buy new boxes?
Also, if i ever find a box, will it be ok wrapped in bubble wrap?

My Oh is a courier so he brings me big boxes home, I just wrap in bobble wrap, no problems.

If you send through a courier Im sure they would be happy to provide you with a box.

Should be fine with big box and plenty of bubble wrap.

Looks like the one I'm sending is going parcelforce 48 - tried getting online quotes for the weight and size and some - I kid you not - were over £500!!!!!!

Found a good cheap one but still with a really good reputation, but you had to book 20 parcels in one group and I only want to send one!!!

Honest!!! UK address to UK address (Up here to Staffs) and putting in max 10k weight and box size of say 1m cubed - megabucks quote!

Needless to say I've not booked that!!!! Just under £15 parcelforce so looks like its going that way!

Who did you send yours with?

If I send one it goes over the post office counter!
I've been pleasantly surprised by the prices (1st or 2nd class) and they will take items upto 20 kgs so a saddle easily comes into that. I think to post one with guarranteed next day and signing for was £19; it was tightly multi layered (about an inch thick!) in bubble wrap, the saddle flaps slightly folded underneath it, with newspaper stuffed down the gullet and extra bubble over the pommel and cantle. Lots of 'this way up' stickers, it looked like a solid triangle but the new owner emailed to say it arrived in perfect condition so I'll do it that way again!
