How on earth do you get rid of them????? ( Ponios not mine!!!

) Inky has a rather large pot belly. He isnt fat its just his belly!!He has been stabled at night but is now out 24/7. He is on limited grazing and has two feeds a day that consist of Hifi light, speedi beet, topspec antilam and a few fibre nuts. He has a small amount of hay. He is only a youngster so isnt doing any work at the moment. He is wormed regulaly. Any ideas what could be causing it??? Is it just his age??? And final question do horses tend to loose abit of weight over the winter months??? He will be kept out until its really wet then he'll be stabled at night.

Thankies

Has he always had it, or has it worsened since being out 24/7?

Some horses get bloated on grass, made worse by being out all the time.

Have you ever used Equest wormer (the one in the green box) ? reason being it's the only wormer that kills a certain worm, according to my vet , its this worm that can give the horse a slight pot bellied appearence

They need a belly for the winter - leave out and it will soon go, as the grass has much less feed value now.

Mine had to live in as clipped, and all the furry beasts out 24/7. He is a most unhappy chap, but its no bad thing for a horse to learn (born and bred on the farm and never left his herd before.... might stop the bellowing at competitions though!)

My mare gets a terrible pot belly - I can only put it down to the fact that she had a foal quite young and was turned out for years as her owner had given up riding - it goes in the winter when she is stabled and fit for hunting - not much use to you though!

my pony also has a pot belly....as soon as she goes through winter it goes down...I think it might be due to the grass and the fact we havent had too many frosts at the moment...as soon as that starts my pony's belly seems to flair down...
