Hello all!

I have been on a hunt the past couple of months to find my next horse, sadly I lost one of my boys back in Jan that I had for 20 years

Whilst my search has been filled with people lying to finding the perfect horse to the seller pulling out because he was her first home bred, I think I might of actually found the one!

His a 2yo abit of a mix full ID x ArabxConnie currently standing at 15.1 so fingers crossed for him making 16h to take up my long legs (I’m 5ft7)

He is a bay but has a lot of grey in his tail I’m hoping this sticks as I wanted something a little bit different

What are people’s thought on the tail staying this colour?

I wanted to post a pic but don’t know how 😂

Thank you x

It’s likely to go black. My bay as foal, yearling and 2. I was very sad as her colouring as a 1yo was stunning.

He's a very smart boy. I don't know enough about colour genetics (if that's even the right phrase), but I can see how you would love his tail to keep the grey highlights - very attractive.

beautiful boy. I’d say it will most definitely go black.

It wont. Thats not the remnants of foal tail, its white hairs. But he might go grey. Some that go grey late and very slowly only have a grey tail to start. Is there an white flecks on his face etc? What colour are mum and dad? I'm inclined to think with that breeding that he might well go grey just very slowly.

Actually I've had a closer look at the photos and I'm not convinced he's going grey. Were either of his parents skewbald or piebald? It could be he is very minimally marked

His dad is chestnut ID and mum is grey ArabxConnie

I don’t think he looks like he is going to go grey either.. maybe the tail will stay like this 🤞🏻

I have a Spanish Arab I got him when he was 18 months and he was like bami a chocolate brown colour with white spots then seemed to grey in a blink of an eye 🤣 he is now 23 x

it not a typical presentation as it looks like its underneath mainly, but if its not because of a white coat pattern and its not due to greying out, and its absolutely not foaltail growing out, then its really the only option.I hope it stays, its striking against the dark bay with the way its quite solid white.
