During your weeks trial do try to hack him in as many different types of situations as possible. If you can find an open area to give him a canter that might tell you a lot about him!

Oh that's a good point re excuses and open canter. I've had the see him ridden advice drilled into me from my dad who made the error when trying a horse for my sister... Bucked her off in about 30 seconds. My family haven't kept ponies in over 15 years so as much as my dad and sister thinks they know everything I do like to come here for more up to date objective advice from knowledgeable people ?

Just wanted to update this. Horse is not a lunatic, horse is a legend. I love him I think he's brilliant, still on our trial week and I'm aware that his owner is trialling me as much as I'm trialling him so I'm just hoping she shares her lovely boy with me. So far I've had a lesson in the indoor, a walk about the hacking track with owner on foot, and I've ridden him about the outdoor school too and I'm hoping to hack him in company soon too.

Owner is lovely too, she is so generous with her time and knowledge and has been giving a lot of support, her sister keeps a horse beside him and she is also lovely and helpful. They're really lovely people and he's a lovely horse so I'm hoping ? I'm the world's worst at mucking out but other than that I think I'm doing okay. I totally understand she needs to be confident with any sharer but from my point of view, I'm sold.
