Potential Rain Scald??

I have just moved my horse yards so that he can be stabled at night (in the day as well at the moment due to the wet!) as he was out

Having given him a good brush this morning i found so small scabs under the coat on his back, i have picked them off and the skin is not sore underneath, i have put some cream once cleaned.

Is this rain scald?
 
It could be - but there are a lot of other things it could be too. If you have a cob type it could be what we call "Cob Bumps" - cobs are prone to acne like scurfy bumps that are entirely harmless and can be groomed off. But it could also be lice, mites, ringworm or half a dozen other things. Could you try posting a pic?

could be cob bumps although i have never heard of them, i couldnt see anything only feel and there are no visible marks or anything there were about 6 or 7 little bumps

Sounds like rain scald, I have just discovered a small ish amount on Nell along the spine so she now has a rain sheet on, might have to give her a small clip as she is so hairy and I dont want her overheating in a rug as she is a hot horse bless her. The rain has been really bad as we all know so a good chance that is what it is

Yes thats were Baz's was along his spine. Weather is a nightmare isnt it! being so wet also means the temp is so mild im finding rugging so difficult as hes a hot horse as well
Might have to get the clippers out on sunday as well i reckon
