Horsie has had a succeed faecal blood test done and it was found that there was a very small amount of blood in stomach and in the hind gut. May not be EGUS but certainly means some kind of ulceration / bleeding

The vet has put him on Ex-egus and he is to be retested in a month to 6 weeks.

Is this a supplement that people have had success with? How long before I see a behaviour change?

Do you keep your horses on it permanently?

My horse already has access 24/7 to food and is on a grain free sugar free diet so I'm not sure what else I can do from a preventative side of things but I don't like the idea of chemical medication on a long term basis.

Do people generally wean off medication and only use during a flare up or move to herbal remedies? Or is it best to just find something that works and stick with it?

Fig has been having ulcer issues recently. Both his succeed tests came back negative. But he is responding positively to sulcrafate as a treatment. More so than the gastroguard he's been on for over a month now!

Bizarrely, I've changed him from a fibre/oil diet to a cereal/oil diet. He looks and feels amazing. Is barefoot and feels fine too.

I intend to keep him on a maintenance dose, but up the dosage around stressful times (travelling, lessons, clinics, comps, moving fields etc).

I drop the work to minimal as he goes stuffy around the hip/flank area, but it's important to give him mental and physical stimulation otherwise, yes.

I've heard of people feeding fennel to assist with ulcers, however I've not heard much about it. It was recommended to me recently by someone as it is meant to help with gassy bloated horses.

Might be worth checking into, again I don't know much so sorry for being useless. I've linked the below which might help

It won't touch the ulcers I'm afraid, esp hind gut.
