So I bought a secondhand bridle on fleabay, my motto being a girl can never have too much leatherwork casually draped around the house :D It was advertised as a Jeffries but doesn't have a single manufacturer's mark anywhere on it. Before I contact the seller or leave feedback I thought I'd check I'm not being a plonker - anyone have a Jeffries with no mark or logo?

Yup, I had a jeffries show bridle without a mark on it. Now have a falcon caveson bridle for buds and that just has a teeny stamp on the end of one cheek piece.

Jeffries often don't mark their tack as they're fairly traditional. Anything they make for the showring is plain as a plain thing. Definitely no buttons or anything like that.

I have a Jeffries show hunter bridle. It does have faint makers stamps ( oval shape with Jeffries name in middle) on ends of cheek pieces. I was aways told Jeffires bridles have white stitching which mine has not sure if that's true or not.

Not all of the lines have white stitching, the Traditional range is. Some, like the Falcon range, are self coloured thread.

Hmm. Not sure what to think then. It wasn't a particularly pricey bridle and is going to be used as an everyday job but the only mark on it is a 'c' for cob.

Ive got a Jeffries Wembley bridle & if you look on the head piece, stamped on the very top of it it says Wembley, but you dont really notice it unless you look for it.

I had a Jeffries bridle for Little Lad. That had a mark of some sort on it, though can't remember what it was. I sent it back as the quality was not what one would expect from Jeffries :( In their defence though, Jeffries were very apologetic :)

I've got several jefferies bridles of different sizes and not one has a size stamped on it (P, C, F rtc) however some do have the round Jefferies logo.

I only buy the Traditional Jeffries bridles as I like the white stitching and can't stand logos on the browbands, especially for showing. My Trad bridles only have a little round oval on the nearside cheek hole strap but they do wear off quick. I have one bridle that is about 3 years old that I use everyday and the oval Jeffries stamp have worn off. I love Jeffries stuff and they have excellent customer service too.

Ive got one here next to me and just had a look and no, no P,C,F on this one either. Only a Jeffries stamp without the oval this time.

Why dont you post a pic OP? A lot of the Jeffries stuff is very distinguishable as Jeffries.

Same here SSG, I love the Trad range, I either have that or made to measure for my lot. Ive got a Jeffries bridle I got over 20 years ago and you can still *just about* see the logo on it.

OP, give Barbara Taylor- Evans a ring at Jefferies, she is the Sales Manager and will give you all the help you need to identify the bridle. Number is on their website. I dare not put her mobile on here she might not be impressed !

When I get down the yard later I'll post a pic. Last thing I want to do is (even accidentally) accuse a genuine seller of selling something not as described, and it is a nice quality bridle...I just expected a stamp of some kind. Never had a Jeffries before so I wasn't sure what's normal and what isn't.

Thanks, everyone, for your help with this - not exactly crisis of the century but a little interesting to me and I appreciate the replies.
