PotHunting! Sorry but........

she is a very bad traveller, and I wanted to give her some experience without adding the pressure on her... I wouldn't say I was 'pot hunting', more trying to get my horse out after a long period off work and out of competing.

I think there's nothing wrong with this and giving horses an outing but I think people who KNOW theyre well out of the league should be honest enough to go HC. BTW am just using this as an example and a reason I would go to a low key comp, not having a pop at you becki

It all sounds a bit like sour grapes to me....everyone who is better than me should be competing in my class.....the problem with unaffiliated dressage is that the organisers can make their own rules and if the rules allow more advanced partnerships to compete at a lower level, then why should they not take part.....they are eligible.

If anyone really doesnt like it then my advice would be to affiliate because the rules are quite clear and the playing field is much more level!

Iused to get wound up about this too, now I don't give a cr*p.
I only do dressage now and I couldnt care less if others in the class get 100% or 0%, honestly! I enter with the intention of improvements on my percentage. If I get a place thats cool, but the important thing is feeling I have done better that I had the last time.
If others want to collect ribbons then fair enough if they are eligable to be in the class then I have no problems with them. I do have a problem with having to listen to moaning and sour grapes, it ruins my day out with my horse!!
If you are realy unhappy about things put your point of view across to the organisers, or do as others say and affiliate.

At our local riding club we have a very talented rider, who went to pony club with my mum and who now teaches at pony club, sells top class horses and ponies etc. Basically she enters the prelim dressage classes, she is competeing against children and their scruffy little ponies and it is not uncommon for her to collect the first 3 places in the class on her nice thoroughbred/warmblood types, it happens regularly. Fair enough you might think, she's eligible for the classes but it is really demoralising for very novice riders and horses when she comes in and scoops up all of the places and then takes the same horses into the novice classes too.
