Powder blue show jacket ... what do you think of it?

Aaw, so you can only wear certain things if you're any good? At what level do you stop being too crap to wear non-traditional clothes? I'm assuming it's height-based since you mention 40cm...

(I'm not keen, but then I'm not young, slim or blonde enough that I'd dare to try! Or a good enough rider, for that matter..) ;)

I can understand what DgE means. For example if say Ellen Whitaker was to go around in a bright hot pink jacket with a diamond encrusted hat () then shed get away with it and it would probably look amazing. However if you turned up at a little jumping show with everyone speeding about with this sort of stuff on then I'd personally think, omg  again, I'm using the word tacky but I think that's what would spring to mind!

A bit like those red leather boots from Dublin  ghastly

I'd wear it if I was a size 6 showjumper and an amazing rider.

I'd also need a groom because I can see that jacket getting filthy within 0.1 second of being near a horse!

I quite like it but not on me.

Yeah, I do know what you mean and I'm fairly ashamed that I think the same way, cos I'm not sure it's right that something should be tacky unless you're at a certain skill level. Unless there are dress codes we should surely*enjoy wearing what we like and not judge others for the same - but nah, never works like that!

I actually quite like it:o Its different and think it would look great show jumping. I wouldn't wear myself but on the 'can get away with anything' sort of people I think it would look nice

Hate, hate, hate, it! Not just the tarty colour, but the teeny weeny arse-showing cut as well. I think the emphasis should be on the horse, not the rider. And I really love the old fashioned, traditional length (I mean the REALLY old fashioned length, where you could curl your fingers under the hem of the jacket when standing).

hahahahah

I remember having one of the new 'cutaway' jackets about 20 years ago, with a little faux waistcoat. Height of fashion and sooooo unforgiving.

Goodness me I wish I was slim enough to wear this now.

Am I jealous of those who can get away with it? Hell yes.

Would I wear it now? Er no.

Ages and stages, horses for courses and all that :D:D:D

I do quite like it. I am all for change and bringing in some colour to the sport and I like that fact that showjumping allows this, unlike some of the other disciplines where you're only allowed to where durgy, dull colours. People wear their own 'colours' for XC/Eventing so why not in showjumping. That wouldn't be my personal choice of colour by hey, if you like it then why not!

I don't like to see kids in red/pink/diamantes when in the show ring, nor do I like the jacket (or the blinged up hat). Black all the way for me.

Well, if you don't like it - don't buy it!

I personally love it! Although I think I'll stick to my tweed or navy. (Unless anyone fancies buying me one???)

Love it or hate it?

Er... Yuk!
(Don't do bling!). :D

I must be really old-fashioned. I don't like these new skinny short jackets... When I watch showjumping these days I keep thinking the jackets look like they've been put in the dryer by mistake .
And in the kids' classes it looks like they are wearing a younger sibling's outfit :p

He he he let's never speak of this again!!!

PS dislike the col our but like the cut, would be nice in purple...... Or RED!!!!!! :)

You can get away with non traditional jackets in sj if you're a decent rid we , competition at a good level. I loathe seeing red jackets in a non competitive 40cm class...

My (now ex) boyfriend bought me the Caldene red competition jacket for my birthday a couple of years ago as I absolutely adore it. It hangs on the wall as motivation - I won't allow myself to wear it until I deserve to :D:p

As for the blue, I don't like it. Think it could look good on some combinations though, a grey for example.

Nasty tacky thing  I like the fit, but hate the length, I realy do detest 'bum freezer' jackets, I do not care what size you are, there is a rather nasty sub message to advertising your arse  I was horrified to see prebuescent girls wearing them at HOYs, as presumably their loving parents have bought them!
