So I was picking out my mares hooves today and her soles are quite thick as all horses soles do in summer, and I chipped one of the pieces off with the hoof pick unintentionally and underneath there was a pinkish tinge and it was quite powdery, has this happened to anyone else before? It didn't smell pungent or anything but I flushed it with dilute disinfectant, should I call the farrier or anything? My mare has had a white line infection before and when the farrier cleaned it out powdery stuff came out, Is this a similar thing? There are no holes or cracks in the affected hoof so I'm thinking this may just be a minor problem ie it's gone no further in than the sole.
Any insight on this would be great, thankyou
