I really would like to get my head round POYS show jumping. I was looking at the results and there are so many classes! 128cm 138cm 148cm, specials, Grand Prix, novice, intro, classic! Here's the link to what I'm looking at. http://www.showmansystems.co.uk/livefeed/buryfarm/RESULTS48.htm Could someone please tell me the heights and basic info about theses classes please,
I'm greatful for anyone who can help!

If I remember rightly when we went last year the intro was 90cm, novice was 1m, intermediate was 1.10 then they had the JC & JA classes which were 1.15m +.

Not sure about the 128/138's but I think they are normally 1.10/1.15m ish.

My daughter did the 1m & had to jump on 3 consecutive days & then either did the grand prix the next day if was in the top half on results or small grand prix the day afterwards if in the bottom half. I think it changed slightly this year though as its not at Towerlands any more. xx

Cross posted with measles! I believe they have a 10 or 11 & unders class too which was about 80cm. We were there for 5 days & it cost me just short of £1000 all together (1 pony - only allowed to do 1 class) with cost of diesel (live 4hours away from Towerlands where it was held then), stables, entry fees, travelodge & general spending money. My daughter loved it despite it being the hottest April ever. I'm glad she got the experience but I couldn't do it every year!!

So does anyone know how to get a pony that has been unaffiliated at the height to getting them to this level, as in would you have to do JD/JC junior novices and things?

Yup!

Everyone who is registered with BS juniors gets a schedule through the post nearer the date so it will be easier to understand when you see it in print as it has the winnings limits & stuff on it. Looking at the link above I would say the classic classes are the consolations for those not qualified for the grand prix xx

I "think" it ran in a similar format, you entered the class and that was for the 3 days and you got into an a or a b final. Can't really tell you anything about the actual show but know the venue well.

Bury Farm is very local to me and by the time it runs next year the facilities will have been even further upgraded. They currently have 3 small indoor schools, an outdoor and the new indoor which is lovely. They are currently building a new bigger outdoor utilising some of the Greenwich surface. We compete there regularly as its 20 mins from us, shows are well run, the staff friendly, the surfaces are great and they do a mean bacon roll and a decent cup of tea!

I'm reading it that she isnt BS registered yet is that right? So she could do either intro, novice, intermediate or 148 class that's presuming the pony has no winnings. If it doesn't have winnings you basically have the choice of classes excluding 128/138/JC/JA's. You don't have to qualify to go to the show you just need to be BS registered & pay your entry fees!

I have a video of my daughter there last year if you want to have a look at what the courses are like (although as I've said it is now at a different venue) I can't post a link as I'm on my phone but if you type search for camalsa magic poys it should come up. It's the novice class (1m) but actually looks pretty small :)

POYS is good because you don't have to qualify for it, and there are classes for all levels. The schedule comes out a couple of months before, so February time next year.
I have a video of a Grand Prix from a few years back

Depending where you are when I was in juniors I found Blue Chip cheaper and more fun than poys. Especially as had senior classes/ gala evening and gps there it was fab so might be worth looking at that.

Must be quite a trek for you! In bad traffic it's 30mins from us :p I do love it there though not going to be a member this year though but still will have to go for the gala evening :)

Takes us about 3.5 hours to get there but we always go for 3 days & my mum & step-dad come along too so its like our family holiday :D it was my daughters last year there on ponies this year though :( fingers crossed we have a horse for next year although will have probably missed all the qualifiers by then!

Was thinking that but I think she's ready for a change cos we've had him for over 4yrs. He's off up for sale shortly when she's got him a bit fitter but we will have to see what happens. She says she will feel a plonk being with the horses on an almost 14hher :D
