Hi quick thick question

need to practice loading as boy is scared so should i hitch up to the car each time or do u just put brake on and jockey wheel down or not secure enough?

Look at it this way, if you don't go for maximum stability and the trailer shifts, what's your horse going to think?

Either attach to car or put some blocks under each corner.

Blocks under rear corners, then use the jockey wheel to raise the front for blocks under the front corners, lower jockey wheel so the trailer settles onto the blocks. Check stability and that it is securely supported all round.

Don't forget that if unsupported, the jockey wheel can also sink in soft ground.

Murphy's Law: "If it can go wrong, it will go wrong".

i sometimes do it unatached but its noot stable enough.

when im trying a horse and even now ill hitch the car up and still put the jockey wheel down to take the movement out of the trailer:)

He loaded really well! 1 time beautiful. Attempt 2 rushed thru so thought i should do slower but on try 3 he ran out so obviously i couldnt leave it on a bad note so on 4th go he needed more encouragement so i am happy with that for today. Lots of praisevtreats and a quick 30 min hack. More goes at the weekend.

You need to load him about fifty times a day for a week then every few days and make him stand. Don't walk in and out.

He stands fine. Doesnt care once in. He onlybrushed today cos my OH walked thru with the bucket bless her!! Hmmm interesting u say to load load reload etc cos I was cross with myself that I had done it too much today!!! I am cross with myself full stop that a bloody ramp incident has backtracked a previously perfect loader although weirdly enough he reloaded fine to come home that very day but did have a companion who kindly whickered at him to go in...soo clever these animals. Thanku. We'll get there, time & patience.
