Just when I thought horse owning couldn't get much more expensive :( I almost coughed like carol in disgust. It's a tiny tube fgs.

This month I've got the farrier, need to get a mineral lick, pay for the winter straw, get some biotin in.....it never seems to end. I may have to resort to desperate measures at this rate

I know, i went in to the local horsey shop yesterday, bought 3bags of feed, 2wormers, a weigh tape and a mineral lick...in total £109 seems everything is just getting so expensive, and my wages are the only thing not going up :(

Ps shysmum, everytime i see your posts it just makes me want your little spotty chap, he'd match my big spotty chap ever so nicely, whats his name? can i have him please? :) x

I live 10 miles from hyperdrug :o That's the last time I go where I went, that's for sure. This is how ditzy I am - I get the damned biotin at Hyperdrug (£7 for 1.5 kilos) but get the wormer (well used to) at Carrs.

Then I use farmway to get feed and everything else. I may go back and complain about this pramox then.

I wouldn't use Pramox again if cost £1

Why? I would be really interested to know. I wormed with Equest 4 weeks ago. My yearling had bad diahorrea 2 days ago and there were live worms in it. Concerned now as to how efficient the Equest brand is?

Equest should be fine but it depends what type of worm your yearling has and what type of equest you used. I would call your vets for advise over the phone and then go buy the wormers wherever is cheapest and authentic

Its a long story Ella, he is 17 months now and been on a regular worming program with Equest Gel & Equest Pramox. It was Equest gel he had 4 weeks ago.

We live in France and he was diagnosed with equine Piroplasmosis last week, he is a poorly wee boy. One of the drugs used to treat piroplasmosis made him very ill. I was horrified by the amount of live worms that he passed in his diahorrea.

There have been some cases of resistance to moxidectin, hence people need to be responsible when worming as this was the only wormer that didn't previously have any resistance! Our yard is giving the equest programme a year off to try and reduce any resistance.

But back to prices for pramox, you seriously are shopping in the wrong places!! Hyperdrug singles price £15.60 and mile end supplies singles price £15.10 with free delivery!! I would also recommend hadrian equine for wormers, again free delivery.

i live in france too and get my wormers from australia :) just bought 11 of their pramox equivalent (equest plus which does tapes/bots too) for £126 which included insured airmail. arrived in 9 days and wormers worked out £11.45 each, from vetnpetdirect.com.au

blimey ! Just goes to show what you can find shopping around. Australia ! :)

I was a bit thick really, as I live close to where they sell it for £14, but didn't think to go there. I use Carrs, Hyperdrug and Farmway, and usually I know which one's for what.

Consider that you've got yourself a bargain! Last year I needed some in a hurry and asked my vet for 3 tubes. He charged me £75. A few weeks later I went to an agricultural merchants where I could have got each tube for just over £16. Guess where I got the next lot? Mind you it did mean being more organised, lol.

I have regeular worm counts and find it far cheaper .

My horses are low risk as all counts have come back clear however I will be doing this worming plan am about to worm for tapeworm

Using worm counts you are not shoving chemicals down your horse uneccesarrily and it discourages resisitance developing which is a problem with all wormers.

Am sounding like an adverticement :) can assure you I am not I am a pharmacist in real life but for people not animals.

Hyperdrug is the way forward..... Use them all the time even for my cats and dog wormers. much cheaper than vet and shops.. free delivery over £40.00 too.
