Prascend and agnus castus

Can you feed both? My older horse has a harsh starring coat and despite pod food balanced and added linseed seems a little less well looking. Cushings test done recently and on one tablet daily. Anyone use both together? Thanks.

In humans, it's advised against using both together.
The laminitis site also advise against you it but I would check with your vet too

If you've only just started on the Prascend give it chance to take effect. What was his count? Have you had a second test done yet to see if the dose is right and controlling the levels sufficiently.

Exactly my advice! Even if you have had the 2nd test, give it time, Spring is a difficult time for horses. His coat might not recover until he has his full summer coat through.

He’s been on prascend for two years. Level is 19. Well controlled. I think I’ll just leave him be.

When did he last have a test? It certainly sounds as if he is well controlled but I would be concerned that perhaps he is heading towards needing more Prascend. I am sure that you are aware that the Prascend merely controls the symptoms, while the condition progresses unseen.

Perhaps some linseed for coat health would be better? If the levels are 19 it’s probably not Cushings causing it.

Can I ask what you meant by 'pod food balanced' is, OP ?

My PPID ladies are on Forageplus Hoof and Skin health balancer, salt, plus at this time of year, (coat change), 2 mugfuls twice a day of Charnwoods micronised linseed.

Ha ha! Sorry just seen my typo! Supposed to say good food! He has agrobs musli. Meadow magic grass pellets a good balancer with extra linseed.
