Hello I hope someone out there can help me please? I am based in France and my 30 yo haflinger mare has just been diagnosed with Cushings. Changed her diet etc but need to buy Prascend. It is horrifically expensive here in France and since Brexit the online UK suppliers no longer accept a French prescription (or any other European country). I need to find another online supplier anywhere else in Europe including Southern Ireland that sells these tablets at a reasonable price. Any recommendations?

If you can't find a supplier, then as a last resort you could try her on mucuna, it has a very similar effect.

Hello thank you both for your replies. I've been reading about Mucuna so going to see if I can find that here. Pergoquin has not been regulated here yet and could take sometime before it would be sold here. Price per tablet is around £6.50 as apposed to £1.03 in the UK as the French government and French vets add their chunk of change onto it. Thanks again for answering

Hi OP, it sounds like you're pretty desperate so I would recommend signing up to this group - it's essentially a global forum for owners of Cushings and EMS horses to help manage them. It's run by Dr Eleanor Kellon, a vet who has a particular interest in these conditions and is a bit of an expert. The group is a pain to sign up to fully - it's quite complex and you can upload case files, test results and all sorts to get help and advice - but you can do a basic signup and ask for emergency advice if necessary. I know I've seen people on there discussing the problem of getting suitable drugs in France so I'm sure there will be someone there who has been through this before you.

Good luck, I really hope you can find a solution for your old girl.

There's a thread on Cheval Annonces started by somebody in a very similar situation.

Several answers suggest getting Pergolife (by Audevard).

One answer compares the price of Prascend to tidy of Pergolife.

Pour le prascend, je payais aux alentours de 160€ pour une boite de 60 comprimés, qui me tenait 6 mois (mon cheval est à 1/2cp par jour)
Pour le pergolife, je paye 120€ pour 60 comprimés également
So €2.67 each as opposed to €2 each.

I had to go into town yesterday, so called in at the pharmacy to check on prices.

Audevard's Pergolife (1mg pergolide) is available there.

It's quite pricey...

A box of 60 is €189, so €3.15 each.
A box of 200 is €500, so €2.50 each.

Thank you for answering. I to have been into my local pharmacy here in France, with similar pricing. Just too expensive. I have a friend looking into sending Prascend (which is Pergolife) to me from Southern Ireland (part of the EU) fingers crossed that this may work out. Its not a problem buying it here just the price of it! As you know Cushings is a progressive long term disease which can go on for years :0( Thank you again for bothering to answer.
