Hi,My horse has one Prascend tablet a day. He usually gets it given to him in a carrot which has had a slit cut into it. However he is on full livery and I don't always get up to the yard with a fresh supply of carrots.

Does anyone have any other tried and tested methods using something un-perishable like a horse treat that you can hide the tablet inside? Or any other ideas? He can't have it put into his feed because he often kicks over his feed and I wouldn't want him to waste the tablet!

Thanks!

I've resorted to force at times when my old boy has turned his nose up! Pop the pill in a cleaned out wormer/gastroguard syringe and down it goes!

I put mine in polos, he got wise to the carrot/apple trick and stopped eating them. If I am not there the YO gives them to him, he loves the polo idea lets hope in continues!

My horse has 2.5 tablets a day in three pieces of carrot but if I don't have any carrots left then I wrap the pill in a hazel nut tree leaf or a dandelion leaf and put the leaf in a handful grass and he will eat them that way.

Just snap in half and push into damp feed; was the same for the previous PPID horse too! Must just have greedy horses. Can you put the bucket in a tyre? Or use a manger?

Thanks for all your great ideas!

It has never occurred to me to put it inside a SF Polo, so will give that a try!

When my horse was diagnosed with Cushings, I explained to my non-horsey husband that we would have to cut out giving my horse the carrots and apples - and extra strong mints which the horse loves.

When my OH did the next supermarket shop , he un-prompted went and trawled the sweets section for sugar free mints and bought a selection so that my horse could do a taste test! I was very impressed! :-) Needless to say, the SF Polos got my horse's vote!

Thanks again!
