Horse has had 2 borderline tests and is suffering from lethargy, occasional footyness and was a bit slow to shed this year.
I have asked my vet for a prascend trial and he has agreed to give me 2 weeks worth at 1 tablet a day to see if horse improves.

I have read though that it can take 30 - 60 days to see an improvement and I am a little worried that 2 weeks will not be long enough to show any effects.

Anyone else whose horse is on it, what are your experiences of how long it might take to see a change?
Thanks

You would need a minimum of 4 weeks I expect, then retest. I'd allow 4-8 weeks for behavioural changes though, certainly my old boy has shown a gradual improvement rather than an immediate change.

Ditto ihatework, go back to your vet and ask for some more tablets, it takes some horses longer to start mproving on the prascend than others, alter your diet for him too, see the FB page PPID/EMS group for helpful informative info :)

Thanks guys, horse is already on a low-sugar grass-restricted diet and has now lost over 80kgs over the last year :)

He also gets Mg, Cu, Zn, selenium and vit E, as well as salt, brewers yeast and ground linseed daily.
I will ask my vet for another 2 weeks worth then, and see how we go after that.

I have a horse on prascend and only allowing 2 weeks is ridiculous. It takes as long as it takes and every horse is different. I took 2 weeks to even get my horse up to a full dose of 1 per day. I started to see some results a couple of weeks after that but it is very much a case of up and down and you cannot put a time limit on it.
I think you could be looking at at least 3 months in order to make a decision. Some will get there a lot quicker, some it is more difficult with.
As it is your money why does it matter to your vet how long your trial is?
