We have the small matter of 2 equines in 3 classes at the indoor driving national championships at arena uk this weekend. Heading to rara’s in the morning to assist clean up and pack before we head north, I run Friday Saturday and rara’s classes Saturday Sunday. If anyone wants to watch other people the obstacles on Saturday and Sunday are streamed to H+C

The posh baby horse has some new leopard print kit to match his boots 😳 (I should not have asked her what we were wearing with him in time for her to google an Asda bargain 😅😅)

I’ve stocked up on extra glitter for storm’s lightning bolts if time allows …

And she sent me a lunge vid in the week which made me go ‘I really don’t need that much pony’ and regretting saying let’s not worry about getting up there in time to drive on Thursday. . .

I’m aiming for not getting too stressed/nervous!

@ester & @rara007 good luck!! Looking forward to the photos of the new outfits 😊

I should be off to our first fun ride of the summer on Sunday. Ground is rock hard so hopefully everyone will be sensible. Just had farrier out so new shoes are on and the stone that I couldn't shift from the Microcob's hoof has finally been removed. Properly wedged in.

Also practicing our long rein walk only dressage test with the Appy. We wiggle!

I'm doing some more in hand walking round our various hacking routes with baby Rabbit. He's great on the little 20 minute circular route round the roads on our yard (and that includes coping with some questionable driving from people casually doing 50mph past him - we're hi vis'd up to the eyeballs and his ass is massive so not exactly hard to miss!) and doesn't bat an eyelid, so I'm going to slowly start expanding our route of where we go and what we do. He enjoys getting out and about and I'm really enjoying the training process with a young horse - I never knew it could be this rewarding!

He's a big boy though standing at just over 15.2hh and turning 2 at the end of the month, so the plan with him is lots of nice and steady exposure to things to get him ready for the next steps, which will be learning to long line and wear a full set of tack. I have no desire to sit on him before he turns 3 and a half as I want him to be my forever horse, so slow and steady is my only goal and aim :) We tootled along to our first in hand show last summer and he took it all in his stride, so I might pop him to a slightly larger showground for more of an atmosphere at some point, but I'm mainly a happy hacker and do tons of groundwork/ natural horsemanship, so going to shows etc isn't high on my list of priorities.

Baggs my retired lad has got a hot date with the shedding blade - he looks absolutely moth eaten and I'm determined to shed him out as he's taken to using me as his personal scratching post - which is NOT on as he is a right lump!

I also have a bike lesson on Sunday (currently attempting to get good enough to pass my CBT and have unlimited pony time whenever I want as currently reliant on public transport!) and I think I'm doing manoeuvres which could be interesting, as I've pre warned my instructor my sense of left and right is pretty much rubbish when I'm nervous. Luckily my instructor is awesome so will help calm any nerves that I may have :)

Not a lot this weekend. Friday I've got the vet coming to re-assess and re-xray Chilli's hocks. I lunged him on Monday before a little hack around the farm and he seems to be moving well, and happy to go on both reins (before I turned him away he wasn't happy going to the right) so fingers crossed he's ok for a life of hacking at least. He's so fat, he needs a job asap!

Then a lesson on Sammy at the end of the day on Friday before a weekend of hacking and tack cleaning before the BD Winter Champs next week - times are out on Saturday morning at which point I'll need to decide whether to go on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday (class is from 8am on Wednesday). I'll be much more relaxed once I can plan properly!

Non horse stuff mainly this weekend. However, we did another hack out to a local spot earlier this week...

BH is horrified at the hard work that is entailed with steep hills 🤣 He also thinks there was far too much cantering involved!

Good luck ester & rara, full report required!
Quiet weekend here, had 2 out eventing at different events last week and same deal next weekend. Why they can’t arrange their social calendars to conveniently run alternate weekends I don’t know 💁‍♀️

Surely you have a helicopter so you can see them at both venues 🤣

Will do my best on reports, my sister is coming up on saturday/sunday as extra support crew which will be much appreciated, she is also good at ester peptalks! She will also claim she is part owner of storm but when I asked what she would contribute in order to appear on the entry she said a hug. Mostly her definition of a good horse is one that likes hugs 😂. Luckily for him baby horse fits this requirement too.

Grooming for a friend on Saturday at local show. Last year at this venue her mare spooked, reared, then slipped and fell over while I was just walking her round to stretch her legs, so hoping this will one be less eventful 😂 (Everyone was fine, just embarrassed. My other friend 15 miles away heard about it over her yard groupchat within minutes 😂)

Then nice long hack for us on Sunday! I should really be attempting to get our canter back if I want to try a prelim this summer but the weather is too good to waste in the school!

I had planned to go to Somerford farm ride this weekend, but my daughter has ditched me in favour of her new fella.

So unless anyone fancies hopping on one of mine and joining me, then its a weekend of dog walking and pony patting the youngsters

Oh if you were closer I'd jump at the chance! I've not ridden since last July and all this lush weather is giving me serious FOMO! 😭

I'm enjoying the additional freedom I have now to make horsey weekend plans. I'm also very 'wtf am I doing?!' now that I have more 'free range' horse time outside of lessons.

I have a lesson tomorrow, sort of wanting a lesson on Mr ID as I know now with Loan Horse I won't be riding my usual lesson horse and I will miss him. That said, I could really do with the lesson on LH to keep building that confidence outside of lessons.

I'll go to the yard again Saturday and Sunday, and thinking again do one ridden session and one on the ground (maybe lunge this week). It surprised me a bit how quickly nerves came back last week when riding unsupervised so I think I just need to do the same thing again in the school and no pressure to do any more.

Just working out how long it would take me to drive😅 you might regret the offer.

Lovely hack today barely saw any traffic. School tomorrow evening as my hacking buddy is busy then I need to clear out move my stable across the road. Should probably take the opportunity to sort through my rubbish, ridiculous rug collection and clean my grooming kit.
Husband is away this weekend so probably not going to leave the yard
Lovely livery is leavingbut we've made a tentative plan to do an egb pleasure ride in at the end of the summer which will give me a fitness goal to aim for.

100% up for that if you are riding on Sunday!

I am fence judging at Eland BE on Saturday so if anyone HHOers are competing, let me know your numbers and I'll look out for you!

I'm away for Easter but I'd really love that if we can work it out. Very kind of you to offer xx

So mini update.
2nd best dressage score of the day by 1 point, best in my class and a clear cones - 12 time penalties but it’s wheeled tight so very happy with that. (Rara did say she feels like she drove all the cones- the backstep is allowed to talk to you so I’ve made the most of her 😅)

so I’m in 2nd before obstacles tomorrow 😳. Nice obstacles though and actually looking forward to them :) .

Baby humongahorse had a drive round the arenas and was very good too.

Very busy day tomorrow! 896F9C6D-12DE-43D1-8123-229A17813714.jpeg6AB062F2-66D0-49DD-A3FE-5AA815635FBB.jpeg
