Anyone else like me that plans too far in advance? I have a retired horse with a loan companion and look after two others twice a week(which pays for mine's livery). I am pondering getting another one to ride but am worrying if I can cope. Being a rather mature horseperson things get harder every year. Have been trying to get a loan horse on a try it and see if I can cope basis, but nothing around. I dont like getting animals and moving them on I like to keep them so planning longish term. However, it is said life is what happens while youre making plans !

Could maybe the loan companion go back to his owner and be replaced with one you can ride?

NB this hasn't so far worked for me by the way, I now have 2 unrideables and nothing to ride, but I did consider it!

Or could you afford not to do the extra ones to give you a bit more time for your own?

Or is there anything you could do to speed things up so it doesn't have so much much impact having another? Like rubber matting

Ah well, Oldmare, loan pony and retired lad really bonded so would feel terrible sending pone back. Could cut out two other horses, I suppose. Have since thought that could keep two other horses on (two small types) and use the money to pay for someone to help with my big dirty lad! Havenet even seen this other horse yet, see what I mean about pre problem worrying ! Called covering all eventualities!
