Mum managed to get this yesterday, before Pidge went down at the front, me on his neck and then me off. I can remember him putting a tiny stride in either at the top of the step or at the bottom I can't really remember TBH it was just a bit of a blur. But this is what mum caught on camera, really strange with his back legs as they are right against the wood! When I looked at the floor after there were two long skid marks about 1-2 foot long followed by two indents which were where his front legs are on the photo. So has anyone any ideas on what happened?

Did his back legs sort of give way on landing? Looks like he might not have got his hooves on the ground and rolled over them, which might pitch him forwards, although it's hard to tell because of the sand...

Hope you're okay - I am developing a rather fetching bruise from Wilby falling over onto me today (from a standstill!) so feel your pain :o

sorry i havent read your other thread yet, but i would imagine, he chipped in a short one in front, but his back legs went too far forward if you get me? So he was probably internding for his legs to land ontop of the step, but they landed to far forward and they ended up coming off the edge of the step. Hence why they look like they do, does that make any sense at all? :p

hhhmmm it dooes look odd, it looks like he either fell off the step because he misjudged it, but then you mention the skid marks which makes me think maybe his stifles locked?... to improve the muscles and ligament tone to stop stifles locking you can do lots of trotting up and down hills to tone them up and irradicate it (if that was what caused it)

Mmmm am thinking bigboyrocky might be right as for the life of me I can't remember where he chipped in the small stride but if it was at the top his back legs could have not made the top and come down the bottom as seen on the photo?
His legs didn't give way and I don't think he lacks muscle and ligament tone as he's very well muscled.

looks as if he lost his back legs down the step, misjudged it or slipped maybe. then he'd prob have tried to bring his hindlegs through to catch himself, hence the two skid marks. looks as if his hind feet weren't on the floor though, did he scrape the front of his rear fetlocks?
he's probably pretty sore, especially hamstrings etc, i'd get him checked over. hope you're okay.

got a very small nick on his near hind fetlock.
Ooh how do I get him checked re soreness? Normal back lady or vet? He seemed ok yesterday so we carried on I just took it easy and did some flatwork in the school tonight for about 15mins just to see how he was and he felt fine. This was him later on over the BE100 sheep corral. Would have pulled him up if he had have felt off.
