Predicting final height. Warm blood x PRE

Great, photos!
She looks like a nice 'person' - not surprised you're in shock, I would be.
It's very green where you are: are you in Northern Spain?

Thought it must be - my OH travels to Galicia every now and then for work.

Hope the introduction plan & other planning is coming along nicely!

Very good guess! :) It is a wonderful place to have horses. The countryside is beautiful for hacking, it is quiet, and it is green pretty much year round.

Yes. She arrived 2 days ago!

As you can see, one of my mares is in love, the other is livid at this new intruder.

Put them all together today. Peace remains unless newbie gets too close then she is driven away with fury by my Andalusian, my lovely little Andalusian who is sweet and gentle and tender and the best little horse anyone could ever want. Hey ho. Herd dynamics!

I have already set to work with groundwork. Mainly manner and personal space and leading. She was terrible when she arrived. Bargy and pushy and pulling me all over the place. I have had to give her some really, really tough love from the get go. No time for bonding. She was so much better today that I took her for a 15 minute in hand solo walk through the woods where we go trail riding. She did good. Much more respecful although she did get in a tizz on the final 200m back to the house. But we worked through it and eventually got home in a nice calm manner.

I have my work cut out but hopefully if today's progress is anything to go by then we will be ok. She is a beauty though, and she will certainly be big enough for my husband when she grows. So right choice was made for sure. :)

Lovely girl. I can see she has quite enlarged veins behind her elbows. You will have to be careful with girth choice as often horses like this can be very girthy.

You know I never even noticed this before Wagtail. I will keep this in mind. What kind of girths do horses with these enlarged veins usually prefer?

Very soft (such as those with lambskin linings, and if using a dressage saddle make sure the buckles are high enough to clear the area. Lots of horses have them and not all cause problems.

Ah ok. Just done a quick google and it appears to be the superficial thoracic vein. I will keep an eye on it and bear it in mind in the future. thanks!

Sounds as though it's all going well! Isn't that weird about your mare, though - typical.
Does your OH like her?

Well I am not sure how it is going, I kept them apart for 2 days. My big Lusitano mare was clearly love struck so I then put the new filly in with her for a while. Lusitano mare ended up quite submissive to the new filly but all in all it was very peaceful.
Then I added my dominant Andalusian who immediately drove new filly away. There have been a couple of bites and kicks, but filly got the message to steer well clear. But I noticed that my Andalusian has also been more aggressive toward my big Lusitano mare, ear pinning and herding her around. However, there were no major incidents so I put them all on my track, as my 2 are normally on a track. Left them to it for an hour and my big Lusitano marehas 2 bloody kicks in her ribs. Not sure who the culprit is but I suspect the new filly. So the new filly is being chased and bitten by my Andalusian, and my big Lusitano is being kicked about by the new filly. My Andalusian is unhappy with both the new filly and my Lusitano, and all three of them are looking miserable.
