So first, Jesse, registered New Forest (Fuzey Lodge Lines) Born May 2006 so 20 months old now and standing full up 13.1HH. Bum high would be modest! And Forrest, Registered New Forest again, more bone, and heavier set. Currently 13.2HH. he was born May 2005 so 2 years old and 8 months. Both feed well with youngstock mix, limestone and alfa-a!

Were they Forest bred or stud bred as I think that can make a fair difference, and how big were the parents?

Would think Jesse would make pretty much full height, and Forrest maybe 14hh? There is a formula for working it out if you measured their legs at yearlings?

My 2 Forest-bred fillies were about 12hh at 2yrs old and made 13hh and 13.1hh by 3. Sold them at 3yrs so not sure how big they eventually made but the 13hh has turned out as wide as she is high!!

Well my understanding is that they grow taller once they're off the Forest and on decent grass. Apparently geldings are more likely to go taller, something to do with the hormones not being required for you know what once they're castrated.

Very hard to say, they sound like they will both make at least 14hh, what do you know of the size of their parents? I bought a 5 year old rising 6 forest bred gelding standing 14.1 1/2, he didn't go taller, but he went longer on the back and has chunked up significantly. Oh, both his sire and dam were 13.2 or under. Another one I bought as a 5 year old but stud bred, I bought him measuring 13.3 tops, I sold him 16 months later as a full up 14.1 and much chunkier too, he may yet grow a bit more. I'm now hoping my grass will have the same effect on a very chunky 13.1 mare over the next few months, but I'm not holding my breath!!

That's interesting what you say about colts being gelded and growing taller. I've got a 10 month old Exmoor colt. The vet has advised I wait to have him gelded this autumn 'to give him a chance to grow', but he has grown significantly already since last October when I bought him, he's a very sturdy and chunky chap. I've decided not to wait until the autumn and have him gelded this spring. I think if he was up on the moor grazing on the scrub his growth might be compromised, but he's on very decent grass and hay here, plus the odd handful of feed which will make up for the loss of his boy bits!

So hard to tell.
I'd guess 14.1hh for Jesse, and 14hh for Forrest.
But it's a total guess...and you're probably the best person to estimate as you can see their body shape./condition.
Hope they grow up to be sound and healthy, regardless of height.
