Hi,
I have a prefix for horses reg with CHAPS and TBF but this year i've bred a ISH. Spoke to the Irish Horse Board they said send them 50 euro and they will reg my prefix with them.

So do I need to contact The Central Prefix Register? as when I had a look on their web page some prefix's are registered to The Irish Horse Board.

Not sure this is much help but I think you only need to register the prefix with the irish horse board if they are issuing the passport. If you do reg a prefix with the horse board each passport issued is also subject to an additional fee for use of the prefix (about 20 or 30 euro more I think)

You pay the IHB whatever fee they require to register the prefix with them, then they inform the CPR of the prefix registration and the CPR then sends you a new prefix certificate extended to include the IHB as one of the stud books with which your prefix is registered in your name.

The IHB will do ANYTHING for money (don't get me started on the IHB!) But why register with the IHB?? Why not register with IDHS(GB) if your horse has proven ID breeding? There is far more in it for you (or a future owner of the horse) in being registered HERE as an IDSH (special classes, promotions, performance awards etc,)

JanetGeorge I bought the mare in Ireland, she is by White Clover. She has a green passport and is down as a main studbook mare. I put her to an ISH stallion bred in Ireland but now in England.
I have had all the paperwork through for the foal from Ireland, how do I go about getting the filly reg with IDHS(GB) instead?
I am planning to put the filly up for sale when weaned will it make a differance who shes reg with from a selling point of view?
Can I not reg her with both, get a passport from Ireland then have it stamped by IDSH(GB)?
Can you tell it's the first ISH i've bred!!

You COULD register her with both - it just costs lots more! The mare is Clover Hill bloodlines (nice!) so her foal is automatically eligible to be registered as an IDSH with IDHS (GB) - even if the stallion is not 'eligible' by way of ID breeding (the Irish call virtually ANYTHING bred in Ireland an ISH these days - the GB society is a bit more selective and requires proven part ID bloodlines!)

There's no added value in registering her with the IHB - a British registration makes the foal eligible for the IDHS (GB) Performance Awards - see http://www.idhsgb.com/web/staticpages/index.php/performance_awards_info - and IF the foal is at least 50% ID - for the IRISH DRAUGHTS IN DRESSAGE AWARDS 2008 - see http://www.idhsgb.com/web/staticpages/index.php/dressage_awards

The only ?mark is whether the ISH stallion is Inspected/Registered (not all are) - who is he (pm me if you'd rather.)

To register her and get a passport, you just have to contact the office for a form and send it and your covering certificate - with the requisite fee - and it's done and dusted!
