PREGNANT 2 YEAR OLD?!

There ought to be an "Irresponsible Breeding Police Force". It'd be easy to find people to fine... just look on DD.

How IS that website still going? It's shocking I hate it, it's been reported and it's STILL there!!!!!!!! I'm baffled.

I actually emailed the website and asked them why they accepted ads for two year olds backed and broken to harness - they replied there are no laws in the UK to stop people riding two year olds - as two year olds race!!

I find the whole thing sickening.

Completely agree.

erm, that's actually a valid point......

It's not really "sick" is it. Now come on. It's pretty natural... just completely bloody unnecessary!!!

I rather agree. I don't like to see horses backed so young, but it's only my opinion, not the law. ;) Plus, as they point out, what about racing?

Agreed! I hate seeing the two year old racehorses they don't even look particularly mature :-(

Poor pony, I find it weird how a lot of people on that website have an 'it's good because it's buy one get one free' attitude :-/

If you look back to one of my threads titled from utter despair to optimistic smile you will get an indication of some of the problems these fillies could be facing, I would link it don,t know how to:o

While I do not really agree with racing two year olds they are not under developed and poor like some of the horses on these sites, there is no need other than greed and ignorance to be breeding with and using these youngsters in this way, you have to wonder what the long term effects are.

If you google the seller on DD he also has yearling Shetland colt for sale which has been ridden and harnessed

I SO wish organisations like RSPCA would try to get some legislation through to make this kind of behaviour illegal

But where would the line be drawn? The very valid point of racers being backed at an early age has been made earlier in the thread

I personally feel that yes it is another unnecessary foal to be born into a terrible financial climate but biologically she is more than capable of carrying a foal at 2 years old. Why do people react like she has been raped by some paedophile?

You're hardly going to get the breaking of young horses banned when so many of the establishment is involved in racing.

I have a feeling that the bottom has dropped out of themarket for posh expensive horses more than it has for these sorts of cobs. So I think everyone should be thinking twice about breeding.

It's the bottom end of the mid market thats really in trouble.
Great bargains around in well bred young stock at the moment keep telling myself I don't need another
