Pregnant dog 58 days pregnant

Could you explain what you mean, please.

I must admit I was surprised when you had had a dog with hip dysplasia and then bought 2 more puppies of the same breed, known to be prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, with no hip or elbow scoring of the parents.

I assumed she meant health checks as opposed to proper genetic testing and hip and elbow scores etc. We all know what OP means by health checks sadly

I think (hope) CT means that health “checks “ are meaningless because what dogs should have before breeding are health TESTs . As well as hips and elbows I would want BOAS for any bull breed .

I hope to god the poor girl has reasborbed the pups. There is NO excuse for breeding this bitch. It makes me feel ill.

OP I'm assuming you paid an absolute fortune to import her, as it looks like her ears have been mutilated and that's not allowed in the UK.
Didn’t notice that, good spot.

Exactly. Unfortunately, as the specialist said on Wednesday, x rays don’t usually detect the issue Mitch has, plus can give false positives, so the point is moot (but of course somebody on ui has to have the usual go. Talk about kicking someone when they’re down!) A ct scan is needed and I don’t think the vast majority of breeders do those.
Yes.

I imagine by 'health checks' she means that the vet said she was fit and well when she had her annual vaccination 🤦‍♀️😏
This.

Indeed.

These posts pop up every so often from new users who for some reason join to post an 'is she/isn't she' question on a *horse forum* about their usually quite-far-along pregnant bitch who is never health tested and is usually of controversial breeding and everyone gets hot under the collar and then we never hear from them again.

I suspect the bitch may not be imported and anyone with a pair of scissors and a young pup can emulate the hacked off look for maximum coolness.

Yeah, I'm sure they can and Amazon were selling DIY kits.

I remembered reading the Veterinary Voices post recently and thought I would share.

OP if you're still reading, I don't think your dogs ears are cropped and I hope I'm right and she's ok. If she doesn't have her pups there are lots of pocket bully's in rescues looking for homes if you want another. It's always best to get them to a vet if you've got any concerns, it's very hard for us to help from a picture.

Health tests aren't meaningless, as someone who never had a dog before I'd need as much information as possible. The more health tests the better. It's going to be easier for me to look after a dog that's breed well, and will hopefully have less health problems than an dog with parents who's got minimal or no health tests.

Out of curiosity, what health tests do they have done?

Eyes look bright.
Nice clean ears.
Teeth are in good condition without too much tartar build up.
Heart sounds okay on a basic stethoscope.

That's all you need to check with these bully breeds 😉

You wouldnt want to do any more than that. It would eat into your profits.

I do feel a bit sorry for OP on this/these threads, presuming their purchase of the dog and the decision to breed it hs been done through ignorance rather than knowing the facts and going ahead anyway.

I agree.

I got the impression that she is a much loved little dog. She most likely has a lovely nature which is why the owner wanted puppies from her for herself and family.
