Well I occasionally use H&H forums, but I thought I would make more effort to use the breeding section now I'm starting to get excited about my foalie arriving.

My mare is SPSS graded (2006 at Heart of England if anyone is interested in ponies) and in foal to SPSS stallion Laban. She is only 13.1h so her tum is big and so furry!! Never seen her unclipped as she usually spends her winters hunting and show jumping.

She is due around the 12th April, and I can't wait! I can definatly tell she is in foal now as she is taking a dislike to certain people and horses!! Ordinarily she is a very sweet little mare.

So, does anyone else have ponies, or any due around the same time?

I have got pics of her before pregnancy and some during if you like

OK here goes...

My mare is due around the same time - on 10th April. Its her first foal tho and shes very 'roomy' so i think foaly will arrive around the middle of April more likely.

Shes in foal to Johnson (Jazz x Flemmingh).

Hi she does look a lovely sort. I breed connemaras and i have a mare due 7th april and 2 others due 2 weeks after by my stallion dark stranger . Is this the first foal you have bred?

wow she is gorgeous!! Bet you can't wait till her foal. Lets hope it is as gorgeous as her mum!!

Just a little added extra, my ponys regd. with spss too.

the stallion is lovely!!

Yes, this is the first foal I have bred. I toyed with the idea for a few years, then it was suggested I had her graded, where she scored really highly, and I was encouraged by lots of people who know more than me to go for it.

We are thinking of having a second foal from her if we send her back in 2009, so we can see how this one turns out.

She doesn't look very big in those photos but her belly has really grown this last month, must get a picture of it really as she normally quite svelte!!

mine is as huge already as yours and is 13hh but it's her 3rd foal - she's due to Aimbrey Chester and is also SPSS graded mare. Due early April - round the 4th but usually runs on till 355 days just to keep my without sleep for longer ;-)

Hi CrazyMare - welcome to the Breeding forum (by far the nicest bit of HHO)!

Your mare is super - really stunning. What is her breeding? She looks a lovely character as well.

I'm afraid I don't have any ponies, but my stallion is a 15.2 Arab and has some v nice pony mares due to him this year, so I am interested in pony breeding...

She is pure bred connemara and this will be her first foal she is 16 years old she is looking very pregnant now and very woolly!!

Hi htobago, thank you! We love her to bits, she is fab to have around.

Her breeding is acctually a total mystery to us, I bought her from a woman who owned a RS with a bit of dealing on the side, who got her from another dealer, Captain Mackenzie Stewart, in Liverpool. She was 6 when I first knew her, and 8 when my Dad bought her for me for the grand sum of £900!!!!

The lack of known breeding was originally what put me off breeding from her, but after speaking to the fab ladies at the SPSS, on the phone and at the gradings, we decided to take a chance with the lack of known background and try and breed for the ability and temprement she could pass on, so come April we shall see what arrives!!!

Thanks!

I'm so glad you decided to breed from her despite the lack of pedigree - OK, it's a bit more of a gamble and you could get a surprise of some sort, but she seems worth the risk!

I hope you get a really super foal!
