depends on your horse!!..if I remember 10 has canter across the diagnal (sp) which is quite hard to sustain if your horse is not yet established in his canter..rode 14 on Sunday and found it nice, practice the serpentines to get a nice even shape and the canter isnt too bad. 14 is a bit of a "between" test, you do lots of transitions between markers, the start of establishing good HH but if your horse isnt over responsive then its harder...phew what an essay!! good luck in what ever one you do!
I agree, P10 is a very big ask (canter across the diagonal and trot at corner marker). For baby horses or unbalanced horses it is quite a challenge as they either break early, fall into trot and become unbalanced or change! And if I remember rightly you then have to get yourself together sharpish and come doen the centre line.
Sure I will get shot down in flames but I actually don't think it is a suitable movement for an early Prelim test.
ha dont get me started on P10 or P12...suppose at 12 you do whoa at x and then trot but as you say with 10 its canter, disunite and then fall in a heap!!!..I actually like p14 (maybe cos I was 1 point off my very first win!) but Im starting some novices and now the Prelims dont look so bad!!!..
we did prelim 10 last year once and he did a flying change across the diagonal and then broke early into trot..its not till next week so better get an idea of 14 aswell....maybe do the 2!
