Hi all!

Our next dressage competition is coming up on Saturday and I just wondered if anyone had any advice.

I'm doing prelim 12 (which is the only prelim I haven't done before) and Novice 24 (our second novice test ever eekk!).

Has anyone done these particular tests and does anyone have any advice on either test?

Thank you!!

:)

No advice as I haven't ridden the N24 and can't remember the P12, however just wanted to stop by and say good luck! Glad you are cracking on with the novices!!

Novice 24 - make sure your shallow loops touch the centre line! Set up well for the canter-trot-canter and don't override it as i have a tendency to do, push for the medium trots as neddy will do them nicely, make sure give and re-take of reins is clear......these are the tips i'm giving myself for it anyway for going out to do N24! :D

Perfect thank you!! I always do my shallow loops too small grr!! and i'm just grateful that the canter trop canter is on two circles as the one across X really causes me some grief lol!

Everywhere I go they only put tests on with canter trot canter .... I want counter canter!! lol!!

Yes - also grateful for the canter-trot-canter being on 2 half circles.....as neddy likes to do a flying change on a straight diagonal!! :D Lovely as it is, not required movement for Novice!! At least on the circles i can exaggerate the bend slightly and keep him from changing!!!

I've prepped for the test - now i just need to prep my mindset as its our first time out anywhere!

Haha this is exactly my problem! And then if I try and bring him back to trot her canters on the right leg but then does a flying change still and ends up on the wrong leg!!

I need to prep both my test and my mind still but I have a lesson tonight so hopefully that will help :)

I have a lesson tonight too! Had a run through of the test yesterday and fairly happy with it - just couple of bits i want my RI to help us with tonight.

I did joke that if i couldn't get the simple change rather than flying change then we could always just go straight in at advanced medium! :D Luckily we seem to have the canter -trot - canter ok now as not sure that would make for the prettiest of tests from me!

Haha! Well it's only my second novice so I'm not quite prepared for the flying change yet however the neddy seems to like them.... He's picked them up from show jumping which is great but not when I want to trot in between lol!
