I certainly don't think its BAD for a first test, and P17 isn't that easy, IIRC. My instructor said you could be pleased with yourself if you got over 50% in your first test, so by her standards, you can be pleased with yourself !
Do you know what other people in the class got? It does help if you can find out the sort of marks that were being awarded so you can see whether the judge marked generously or harshly. It helps to you to get an idea of where you came in the class, if you see what I mean. If everyone else got over 70%, then maybe you have a lot to work on. If the winner of the class only scored 59%, though, then yours is a very respectable score.
Well most people were in the 63-66% area but then it was an open class and there was one horse that is an olympic medalist!! so i think i did quite well considering, thanks for the advice for the future.
I think you were very brave to do a long arena test for your first ever competition. 55.5% is excellent for your first try. Keep your sheet and work on the criticisms, read what the judge has commented on and try to improve on your collectives.
My first ever test was W&T and I got 38%, however we did spend most of the 4.5 mins in buck with wrong bend
Ah so I was alrite then! I never thought I would enjoy dressage as im normally a hunting and hunter trial girl but I had a great day! im gona do more over the winter so will keep you up to date on our progress!
WHat is a good score depends on lots of things, the horse, the level the horse is at etc etc.
However if you this what the marks mean 5 = sufficient and 6 = satisfactory if you got all 6's that would be 60%, meaning all of your test was satisfactory, so I think this is always a good place to start.
Well I thought that but thats what one of the organisers said, aparently its won £18,00 BSJA aswell. never mind im just really happy with what me and abbey did
