I have signed up to BD and today received all the tests I ordered however these are totally useless to me, I have tried to draw diagrams which is the only way I can memories a test but having only ever practised one test and having never done one in a competition I find the written instruction v confusing! For instance E circle left 20m ... That's fine then it says EXAF working trot !!! Then FXC working trot!!

Help, have lesson to practice it this weekend but would like to get it in my head of poss so can concentrate on performance not directions!

Don't suppose anyone has a nice set of diagrams...

Lolly on offer....

I think they're written out separately because they're separate movements and marked separately. Think of it as 20m circle at E and then trot round the school to F before going across the diagonal to X and then turning slightly right towards C. I believe Dressage Diagrams sell individual tests with diagrams.

I got Preliminary 2 from BD at a show so it's without diagrams and have just drawn each movement on an additional sheet - they're not neat, but they work!

I find watching other people's tests on you tube helps me learn. Especially if they have a caller!
I also picture my arena in my head and imagine riding the test, I think about how I would ride each bit too.
I can't find my copy of that test but, I think you mean EKAF working trot? Which means after you've circled at E you the trot round to F.
FXC means you trot to X then go straight to C. So, as if you start a change of rein across the diagonal but instead of ending up at H you go straight to X
Not sure if that helps at all?

They don't have to be neat. Anyway, if they're a bit dodgy looking you might be more likely yo remember your test because you'll remember how bad your drawings were at certain points ;) Plus, then you might smile in the test and that should relax you. Therefore, you'll be more likely to win ;)

Win haha, hilarious, be lucky to remember it, luckily shouldnt let team down (team quest) as only so many highest scores count!

As Kat_Bath suggested, you can buy illustrated tests here: http://www.dressagediagrams.org

You can print them from your 'portfolio' on site. Also choose 'PDF' as your 'printer' and you can save a copy to your computer (I don't think they stay in your portfolio forever). It's £2.50 per download but I find them invaluable.

To learn them, I draw out the patterns on scrap paper :) I can't remember where the letters are but I know I need to trot in this corner and canter in the next...
