Please can someone confirm that prelim 18 is not done in a 60 x 20. Wishful thinking!!

I have to choose one in a 60 x 20 wanted P18 but have a feeling its 40 x 20 so have P16 and P17 to choose from - they look mega hard!!

xx

Yes, Prelim 18 is 20x40. Sorry!

Prelim 18 is definately in a 20 x 40 arena. Prelim 16 & 17 are in a 20 x 60 & don't look too bad. The movements won't be too difficult for you, what is possibly complicatimng things for you is the fact that there are 8 more letters to remember & their locations (V,S,R,P,D,L,I,& G). Once you've got those letters in your mind you'll get on fine. Good Luck

Neither 16 or 17 are particularly hard. They both flow well and are fairly symmetrical.

Try to visualise the patterns rather than get too hung up about actual letters.........although of course the patterns must be ridden acurately at the letters!

I know but they are a lot harder than P7!!!!!!!

We are just beginners! And have always stuck to the 20 x 40 tests.

Also i dont have a 60 x 20 school, in fact its not even 40 x 20 its about 30 x 30 so will be hard practicing it with the middle letters.

I will do it though if i have no other option, at least if i make a muck up its just a test riding day not a competition!!

I avoided long arena tests for ages thinking them to hard, to difficult to remember, centre line to long etc but having ridden 16 & 17 several times now they are actually really flowing and it is nice to have a bit of extra space in the arena. You will be fine.

Like someone else said concentrate on the patterns and symetry. I can never tell you which letter is which!

My friend told me she thinks of the markers as 'normal letter' or 'funny letter'. That way you can learn the pattern and only need to remember if the letter is funny or not.......dont laugh it really helps

prelim 18 is eawsier than both 7 and 10 and 12 by far!
Yes it is 20/40 although on some sheets it ays 20 x 60 cause we were all confused at one point
16 and 17 are only harder as they are long arena.

I am spoilt because we do have a full sized arena at the yard. However, I do think, it means you have more time to rebalance etc between corners, which is good if your new at it!

For the middle letters just remember RSVP in a Z shape! (at every point on the Z there is a letter and they go in the order of RSVP!) (If that doesnt make sense I can explain more!)
